ePSXe running slow

I was able to load and configure the games correctly yet when I play the playstation 1 games I get an echo and the frame rate dips to 20's or less.  Any advice?

 

I am using a HP Laptop

AMD A-8 5545M APU w/ Radeon HD and 8 GB RAM (7.19 usable)  64 bit processor
