Steam Big Picture for Big Box interfering with Dolphin

For the purpose of using the Steam controller for my games, I opted to launch big box through Steam big picture, as it’s the only way to get the controller to be recognized as an xinput controller. The problem is that when I want to launch a game on dolphin that uses the wii remote, it’s not able to read the wii remote because of the Steam controller settings on big picture. Are there any suggestions as to how I can go around this?

There's a nice write up on the Steam Community website on how to set Dolphin up withing BPM:

Also, if I remember correctly (but I might be thinking of another issues), there's a bug that if you have Dolphin setup to run as administrator it will prevent the controller from being recognized properly.  So, if you do have Dolphin setup to run as admin, try simply turning that off to see if it helps/fixes the issue.

Edit: There was also a thread on this forum recently where someone else had the same issue, they resolved it and put in the thread how they did:

Maybe that will help as well.

Thanks for the reply. My issue is that I have a real wii remote that I want to use. But, because of the Steam Controller config, I'm not able to use it, because the controller config is interfering. I'd like to know if there's a way to work around this.

Oh I see.  Sorry, not sure how to get it to work if the steam controller plugin is interfering with Dolphin detecting the real wii remote.  Can you get the wiimote to work in steam?  Maybe that's how to need to do it so that it will then carry forward to Dolphin.
