Retroarch Hotkey Conflict

Ok if I launch retroarch outside of Bigbox all the volume hotkeys I've set up with perfectly. If I play a game launched via Bigbox the volume hotkeys goes all wonkey and triggers multiple weird actions like switching to windowed mode, triggering slow mo, I read a old thread with a similar issues and was wondering if anyone has a solution or has isolated the issue. I think it only happens with the volume hot keys .
