Where are the settings for sound? I get crackly, slow sound on even the most simple of consoles like Atari 2600 and NES. I am on version 12.3.

This is with intel integrated graphics. I tried both HDMI and earphone jack for sound... no help. The sound driver is xaudio and latency is set for 64. My mame games sound fine, but I am using the mame emulator, not retroarch.

I had similar issue, but changing Nvidia to 'prefer maximum performance' fixed it for me.

·         Right click on desktop > Nvidia Control Panel

·         Manager 3D Settings > Program Settings > Add > LaunchBox

·         Power management mode > Prefer maximum performance

It is working now. Frankly, I don't know what changed. I have intel integrated graphics, so no Nvidia setting for me.

The problem I have now is that Atari 2600 has flaky graphics. Sprites are disappearing. I think the fix for that is to use Stella, instead of retroarch.
