Regarding merged compilations of different games.

Hello, 1st post here heh.

Most of the time when we submit art or add an entry it's just for a single game or a compilation of games that have a game selection screen, meaning it's a single rom/iso, or multiple roms/isos for the same Title.

Plain and simple.

However, with the newer consoles (I mostly submit NSwitch content atm) I stumbled upon Compilations that hold multiple titles without having a title selection screen (all the titles just show up at once when you slot the card in the console).

Furthermore, the titles are sold separately in their digital version.

Problem is that the actual official art has a different name than the games themselves so most of the time I just end up creating multiple entries (one per game) and adding fanart instead of official art.

On the Launchbox side it looks like having twice or three times the same entry with a different cover when possible or a single entry with the wrong name.

The question is, should I continue adding multiple entries with fanart instead of official art or, a single entry bloated with different fanart that would expand the available images db significantly. Puzzling the end user who just wants to scrape easily ?

OR

(Probably a misplaced feature request here) If when merging titles we could get the option to add some kind of new supertitle/entry that would get the official art and the correct compilation name instead ?

A few examples of those games

Thanks.

Hello,

1st post here as well, jumping in as I have a related question.

In my case, I'm looking at adding Larry Bond's Harpoon Ultimate Edition (for Windows). Official publisher's page is here: https://www.matrixgames.com/game/larry-bonds-harpoon-ultimate-edition

This is a compilation of multiple versions of Harpoon (it has a notoriously complicated release history, just a couple of the earlier Windows versions are already in the database), and three (!) different branches of Harpoon 3 (no versions of Harpoon 3 exist in the database). For launchers, there is one Matrix Games-style launcher for all the different Harpoon versions (titled Harpoon Ultimate Commander's Edition) and one launcher for each of the three different Harpoon 3 variants (Harpoon 3 Ultimate Advanced Naval Warfare, Harpoon 3 v3.6.3 and Harpoon 3 Advanced Naval Warfare v3.9.4) (puh...).

The compilation, Harpoon Ultimate Commander's Edition is listed in the Harpoon Wikipedia page, as are two of the three Harpoon 3 variants. MobyGames lists the compilation, Harpoon Ultimate Commander's Edition and Harpoon 3 ANW.

Any opinions on how to approach this and similar situations?
