"Now Loading" screen doesn't show anymore

When I load a game, retroarch starts up for a second but then I'm brought back to the launchbox or bigbox screen while waiting for the game to load. I'm in the latest beta.

Any ideas if it's a setting in retroarch or launchbox that I messed up?
