Hotkeys and/or Pause do not work in-game with Switch controller

I've set the pause menu to be minus + plus on the switch pro controller, and when I get in game in the yuzu emulator and hold minus and press plus, it doesn't bring up the pause menu. However I also have my xbox series x controller enabled, and when I press the corresponding buttons (left stick click plus right stick click) on the xbox series x controller it brings up the pause menu just fine. I am concluding that big box commands/keys simply don't work with a switch pro controller, is this correct? if I can get the switch pro controller working to bring up the pause menu in yuzu that'd be great, but I only use it for motion control switch games so if its not possible i'll make do, but I thought no harm in asking. does anyone else have issues with switch pro controllers and big box or know how to fix this?

I have the same problem with my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. BigBox doesn't seem to recognize the controller at all. It would be nice if support for it will be added in future releases. Like Steam (Big Picture) has native support for it.

I have a related issue with the Switch Pro Controller and Bigbox. When I run any emulator the emulator hooks into the Switch controller, completely taking it over. I then have to use the keyboard and mouse to clean exit the emulator, but the emulator doesn't pass the controller back to Bigbox. I have to turn off the controller and turn it back on again while in Bigbox for it to rehook.

I would be happy to autohotkey this process but happier for it to be addressed in development since I don't know if I can get around the rehook process using AHK (turning off the controller and turning it back on again).

Unable to pause using controller while using Switch controller setting on my 8bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth controller. This seems to be an issue that LB/BB has with Switch input.

Keyboard pause works in Launchbox/BigBox while playing Yuzu/Cemu
Xbox pause works in Launchbox/BigBox while playing Yuzu/Cemu
Switch pause does not work in Launchbox/Bigbox while playing Yuzu/Cemu

Switch pause works in Launchbox/Bigbox while playing Retroarch

I’ve confirmed my settings are correct, and my controller bindings for “Show Pause Screen” as well. In both Launchbox and BigBox.

To reproduce:

  • Connect Switch controller
  • Run Switch or WiiU game via Launchbox or BigBox
  • Attempt to pause via controller hotkey
  • Fail

This seems to be a issue happening for a lot of people. Here's a ticket from 2018.  Here's a forum post from a couple weeks ago.

I just started using this frontend, and I like it. But I'm surprised to see that this has not been resolved after 5 years.

It's likely not an issue with what application is hooked up to the controller, but mode swapping behavior of the device itself due to the controller drivers in the emulators enabling enhanced controller features. I have more details in a thread here. Also, I know the open feature request has already been mentioned, but if you still want this resolved remember to go upvote it https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/7003/better-switch-pro-controller-support
