Nested playlists without using platform categories?

I am trying to have my arcade cabinet to have two categories. One for digital controls and one for analog controls, and under each of those categories to have genre playlists (with only games within their respective categories showing)

For example. I push the button. It goes to the platform categories screen. Only two videos show "analog controls" and "digital controls."

If I select analog controls > action games:  I'll see Tomb Raider bc it uses analog sticks. 

If I click the digital controls> action games: ill see Strider because (as an arcade game) it can be played fine with the digital joysticks on my cabinet, but Tomb Raider will not be there.

Is this possible? It seems there is no nested option except platform categories? I want it organized by control type, not platform.

 

Or maybe there is a way to get platform categories to work for my purposes? I can't figure it out
