Issue with Joystick input

Hopefully someone can give me some guidance. I  have a Hyperkin Trooper 2 USB joystick connected to a PC. When I launch eXoDOS the joystick works great. When I launch eXoWin3x or eXowin9x the joystick is not recognized. Is there an emulator in need? Something in those emulators I need to do. Or is the joystick just not compatible with those, and is there a simple USB joystick that is?  Thanks
