That's why I proposed the idea some time ago in the requests forum, but it wasn't considered at all. With the help of AI, I've been able to achieve something very similar to what I used in Hyperspin, and I'm very satisfied. ENGLISH BigBox TTS - Text-to-Speech Plugin for LaunchBox & BigBox What is it? A plugin that uses Windows built-in text-to-speech (SAPI 5) to announce the names of platforms and games as you navigate through LaunchBox and BigBox. No theme modifications required — just drop the files and go. What does it do? Speaks the name of the platform you're browsing Speaks the name of the game you select Greets you when LaunchBox/BigBox starts Says goodbye when you close it Fully configurable from an in-app settings menu (accessible from both LaunchBox Tools menu and BigBox menu) Supports all Windows SAPI 5 voices (including Spanish, English, and any other installed language) Automatically detects your system language — UI shows in Spanish or English accordingly What's required? LaunchBox v14+ (requires .NET 10) Windows SAPI 5 voices installed on your system That's it. No additional dependencies. Features Voice Selection: Choose from any SAPI 5 voice installed on your system Volume & Speed Control: Adjustable volume (0-100) and speech rate (-10 to +10) Platform Filtering: Select exactly which platforms should have TTS. If none are selected, TTS stays silent Speak Platforms / Speak Games: Independent toggles to control whether platform names, game names, or both are announced Greeting & Farewell: Configurable welcome and goodbye messages Live Preview: Changes to voice, volume, and speed apply immediately as you adjust them — no restart needed Test Voice: Built-in test button with editable text (LaunchBox mode only) Cooldown System: Prevents overlapping speech when navigating quickly Bilingual UI: Automatically shows settings in Spanish or English based on your Windows language BigBox Optimized: In BigBox mode, the settings window stays on top and hides the test button for cleaner kiosk use Installing With LaunchBox/BigBox closed: Download the BigBoxTts.zip file Extract the contents into your \\LaunchBox\\Plugins\\ folder Make sure System.Speech.dll is in the same folder as BigBoxTts.dll Start LaunchBox Setting up In LaunchBox, go to Tools menu → BigBox TTS - Settings Select your preferred TTS voice from the dropdown Adjust volume and speed to your liking In the "Platforms with TTS" section, check the platforms you want TTS to announce. If no platforms are checked, TTS will not speak. Toggle "Read platform names" and "Read game names" as desired (Optional) Configure greeting and farewell messages Click Save The same settings work for both LaunchBox and BigBox.
