Values for dial, trackball and analog joysticks with the xtension emulator edition plus arcade board (opinion)

I recently bought an Xtension Emulator Edition Plus Arcade Board and now I’m configuring it to play my favorite games.

I don`t have any problems with the games that require normal joysticks, but I have my doubts with spinner, trackball and analog stick games.

I have searched and found websites and forums where they give you values to emulate those devices so that it is as similar as possible to the actual arcade experience, but I’m not always sure if some of those values are right as it seems off when playing.

I will start asking about five games and give my opinion, and if you could do the same or if you disagree, say what values you have, I would be very grateful.

Centipede (trackball): original settings                         my settings

trackball x increment/decrement speed 10                      0

trackball x reverse on                                                            on

trackball x sensitivity 50                                                        50

trackball y increment/decrement speed 10                       0

trackball y reverse off                                                            off

trackball y sensitivity 50                                                        50

In forums I see 50 for sensitivity and it seems ok. I think the increment/decrement speed does not play a role here and it can be set to 0 if desired.

Crystal Castles (trackball): original settings                      my settings

trackball y increment/decrement speed 30                                 0

trackball y reverse on                                                                    on

trackball y sensitivity 10                                                                50

trackball x increment/decrement 30                                              0

trackball x reverse off                                                                    off

trackball x sensitivity 10                                                                 50

In forums I see 50 for the sensitivity and it also seems ok. As before, increment/decrement speed is irrelevant.

Kick (dial/trackball): original setings              my settings

dial increment/decrement speed 50                       0

dial reverse on                                                           on

dial sensitivity 3                                                            7

Here I have been reading that you can use either a spinner or a trackball. As the arcade had originally a trackball, I have selected this option for the values and it seems to play fine.

Blasteroids (dial): original settings                   my settings

dial increment/decrement speed 10                        0

dial reverse off                                                           off

dial sensitivity 60                                                         24

According to forums 24 to 29 is the ideal when playing with a spinner. As there is no second dial, when playing with 2 players simultaneously, second player has to use joystick to turn and the 10/off/60 is ok for it.

Marble Madness (trackball): original settings                        my settings

trackball x increment/decrement speed 30                                    0

trackball x reverse on                                                                       on

trackball x sensitivity 30                                                                 100

trackball y increment/decrement speed 30                                     0

trackball y reverse off                                                                       off

trackball y sensitivity 30                                                                 100

This is the one where according to forums 100 is the best option, but for me it doesn’t feel quite right. This is also one of the few games where I miss having an arcade board with 2 spinners and 2 trackballs, so that two players can play with no advantage whatsoever. Or does such an arcade board exist?

I’m interested to hear your experience and if you agree with the values I posted or if you would select others, as it is always a subjective matter, although as I said before, I tried to selct the values that are closer to the original arcade experience (according to the ones who posted them) as I don’t have the ability to check it by myself.
