Appreciate the response, but I think you misunderstood what I was asking. I’m not looking for a universal “one size fits all” preset. I’m fully aware that LaunchBox is just the frontend and that emulator configuration is platform-dependent. What I was referring to are global best practices inside LaunchBox itself. Things that apply regardless of emulator choice. For example: • Default emulator assignment per platform (manual vs auto) • Recommended import settings (scrape priorities, metadata overwrite rules) • Media storage structure for large libraries • Performance tweaks for Big Box (video playback, transitions, caching) • ROM management options like deleting files vs removing entries • Handling multi-disc games and CHDs cleanly Those are the kinds of baseline settings that help people avoid messy libraries in the long term. Same with the deletion example I gave. It wasn’t about “proper game settings,” it was about storage management and how LaunchBox handles file operations versus database entries. Your tip about enabling Allow deleting ROMs when deleting games is correct, but it’s exactly the type of global option I was talking about from the start. So yeah, I agree there’s no universal emulator config. But there are universal LaunchBox practices that make a setup cleaner, faster, and easier to maintain, especially once you reach 10k+ games.

Can you provide some of the best settings for LaunchBox to have everything properly set up for games? For example, how can I delete games directly from LaunchBox, not just from the LaunchBox list? from storage, to save even more space.
-
Could you please explain whether I can update MAME from 0.284 to 0.285? Do i have to replace also the roms games? Also, is there a setting to remove the screen tearing?
-
Yes, some games show that badge, which means I have all 115 games that showed before importing them? In Launchbox for Arcade, it shows 889, but in the folder, it shows 961
-
Another issue: I imported 115 NES games, but only 86 are showing. The same applies to SNES; for arcade games, there are fewer as well. Why is that, and how can I fix it?
-
Amazing, it works now. You are an arcade gem, man. Thank you! Now, how can i have this? Only for arcades. Instead of this
-
I come back with another issue now. I chose the games and exported them using the LaunchBox settings. I removed the arcade set from LaunchBox and started importing the games I exported earlier, but they don't start. There's a 1-second black screen, and that's it. What do I have to do? And I also want categories like beat-ups, fighting, vertical fly, etc. I suppose I imported them correctly. I tried to import them via ROMs in LaunchBox, and I selected the ROMs folder.
-
Finally managed to fix everything by adding them manually via launchbox; most were already in the full set, others were just downloaded one by one from the internet. Now all good and working. Thank you for the help.

I managed to download MAME 0.284 (non-merged), imported the set into LaunchBox, and was looking for the game Gunforce2. Nothing. So I downloaded the game, and I imported it manually from LaunchBox—still nothing. Like before, the game is not imported at all.

The question is how to delete the games from the complete set so I can reduce its size to 4GB. As I said, I need, of course, to see the game picture or gameplay so I am sure of what I delete. I want to delete directly from LaunchBox. Will it be entirely deleted from the name set folder? Please elaborate on the steps. Thank you!
-
And how do I properly curate the games from the non-merged set? I mean, I want to make it the same 4GB only games that I want, but to delete the games that I don't need, I need to see the games from the set like pictures or videos, so I can choose properly. Can you guide me, please? And you say that it is better to remain on the non-merged version? Can I add new games, or do I always have to create a new set?
-
So I need only ROMs for 0.253? I worked a lot on this set to make it only 4 GB of the games that I like. Now have to do a new one again? Also, my set is merged. Is it better to have merged or non-merged sets? And how do I do if some games are not available from the beginning in the sets, like some hidden gems, for example?
-
My MAME set is 0.253. I have everything well organized in folders, games, and emulators. Regarding that plugin, what should I do with it? I have never used it before. This is what i receive from the plugin gunforc2.zip.txt

I am using Launchbox 13.24. I managed to add the game with CTRL+N, but it is not starting, just a 1 sec black screen and that's it.
-
I tried via Tools - Import - Roms - Single Platform, I chose the rom file, then I selected platform Arcade, then emulator MAME 0.253, then chose copy file to my launchbox games folder, then next, next, and when arrive at ready to import window there is no game, 0 games, bassicaly is not see it at all to import. CTRL-N does not even find the game, only the first Gunforce and another Gunforce for SNES, no Gunforce 2.
-
I Im trying to add some single ROMs for Arcade, but none of the games show up, so they can't be added. I downloaded the ROM game Gunforce II, but it doesn't add. What do I have to do? The ROM I downloaded from here xxxx Im just looking for some hidden gems that I don't have. The platform I have is MAME 0.253, if that matters. PLEASE HELP!!!

At the end, I chose a different one; it seems to be working well, but I will also try your way. Thank You! I would like to know if there is a similar menu system like MAME's on other platforms, such as NES, SNES, Xbox, and Xbox 360. PS123, etc
-
I tried, but it doesn't let me choose the guide button; all other buttons work, so I have to select any other button, unfortunately
-
Good to know, but I see it's only possible on the keyboard. I want to assign the menu key to a specific button on the controller, but pressing that button does nothing. Is there a way to select a button on the controller instead of the keyboard?

Does anyone know how to open the service menu in MAME on LB using an Xbox controller? I want to add a specific button on the controller that opens the menu. How do I do that?

Arcade MAME 0.253 ROMS, RUN IN BLACK ON ANDROID!
ServiceMode replied to ServiceMode's topic in Android
Man, you are unique; you make my day. Thank you. Now it's working. Many users told me I must have a new set of MAME ROMs. I work a lot for this set of only 4 GB. I import the ROMs from Android transfer via LB on Windows, which is very easy. One thing I want to know is how I enable the screen to appear in MAME settings, like on Windows, via the TAB key. Where I can choose cheats and other stuff, I don't want to do it via RA; I prefer old school via MAME directly. Is it possible? Also, I prefer the Xbox series Bluetooth controller 🎮 Is there a way to configure one time for all systems? Or do I need to do it for each? Update: I tried more arcade games from different systems, and I noticed that not all are working, for example Capcom system III not working at all, other systems working, but has glitches in the graphics. Can you tell me please what other settings should I change? -
20240208_174901.mp4 I did exactly like in the video; https://youtu.be/_D54q1-Yq7I I confirm that on LB on Windows, all games are working correctly; the system I copied is Arcade only. Everything shows on my Android tablet, including the artwork and videos, but the problem is that when I try to play the game, all games go on black. I update everything on the Retroarch, using the latest version of Retroarch Plus and the core MAME 2003 PLUS. Could you please help to fix this issue? Please check my video on the tablet.

Is anyone that can help?

Howdy! From the screenshot, how can I see more Videos, Trailers, Gameplay & Pictures on LB's main page? I downloaded everything from paid EmuMovies, for example in Street Fighter 1, I see just 1 video with Street Fighter 2 and a couple of pictures; I want to see also more pictures, videos, and gameplay that is related to Street Fighter 1, not 2, etc. Also, many games don't have any video; why? Since I paid for EmuMovies? Also, BigBox has the same issue regarding pictures and gameplay. What do I have to do? And it is not about whether it is a video snap or not; it just doesn't appear to be a video snap. Also, how can the theme be when the same theme is on other games? I can see even 2 video snaps, and only the game box and some pictures on others. How is that possible? So, even on BigBox, the same issue appears; it only shows pictures on games like X-MEN and many others.
