No launchbox but there is a frontends for Xbox One and Series Consoles that uses launchbox meta data but they do not have a scrapper, one is RetroPass retropassdev/RetroPass: Retro Pass is a simple frontend for RetroArch, RetriX Gold, Dolphin, XBSX2 and Xenia Canary running on Xbox. (github.com) thats in the style of GamePass and the other is a fork i have been working on with 2 others called LaunchPass Misunderstood-Wookiee/LaunchPass: Retro Pass Fork with additional features. (github.com) which is the same with more customization but not quite finished just yet. By the way Xbox Series Consoles can run retroarch, dolphin, xenia, ppsspp, flycast and retrix gold all very well with all ports getting pretty frequent updates and the community is getting quite large now in the discord there is 320000 members and growing, LaunchBox and BigBox would be great on xbox and many people would probably get bigbox, i did and im mainly a xbox user

You're 100% right, but unfortunately there's no point discussing any of the positive sides of the community here. "This is a commercial product" is all that gets parroted around these forums, shutting down any discussion about exciting possibilities. To these guys, it's  350,000 people enjoying a "novelty", even though it's dollar for dollar the best value emulation hardware on the market, and has been for 3 years now, haha.

  2. It's taking over 8 hours so far to import 9000 SNES games. I have to do this for every platform. Can they work on massively speeding up the import process? It's taking so long as has been like this for ages I'm now looking at alternatives.

  3. It should be more likely that we get behind the emulation community when it gets access to hardware that can improve performance. It's sad to read that it's more about monetisation than preservation around here. Thanks for attempting to kill the discussion multiple times though. Truth is if the community moves over to using xbox for emulation, those who make front ends will do the same. If not you because there's no money in it, then someone else.

Well im saying we do not have a UWP app so Launchbox on the XBOX isnt possible, quite simple to understand i feel.

He knows there is no UWP app, it's obvious. What he's saying is it'd be great if someone would get behind the emulator scene on XBOX and create a UWP app for those using it for emulators. It is probably the best hardware to run something like Launchbox on right now.

  5. Uh huh, which is dependencies that I didn't pay for. I paid for software that didn't require anything else to be installed (otherwise known as bloat) to keep my lower spec machines running with decent frames. How is this going to work for example, on WinXP machines that can't even install these dependencies? All this so called "progress" comes at a cost to older hardware. When we're dealing with aged software preservation, it's quite relevant. I'm surprised I'm the only one mentioning this now. How many other dependencies on modern hardware and OS will this software have to rely on to function? As it's not so much the standalone, can run on an external drive installation on a lot of hardware now as it used to be.

Also: I don't need a moderator jumping in here for giving me attitude without thinking it through first. Not a good look for your community, quite immature honestly.

Confronted with this as I open launchbox update. What's it going to do for me? Do you understand that even though yes, you are continuing to develop the app, that a lot of people have this set up in almost standalone like situation in a cab or bespoke setup. Is this just where I turn my updates off and wondered why I paid for a forever license?

I would be happy to do that. What game(s) do you recommend for the platform? And can you supply a sample image of an age-appropriate PC I can use as a reference?

Just the classics yknow Doom, Duke3D, Wolf3D, Quake, Commander Keen, Jazz Jackrabbit, Lemmings. It's actually hard to find like a good photo of an old Pentium style or 486 DOS PC

Hi @NOMAD0P. The way this theme works is it tries to match the name of your platform to a couple files within the theme's directories. It's trying to find "Sega Mega Drive" so it doesn't match your "Sega Megadrive" and instead displays the default view.

    You have 2 options:

    • You can rename your platform in LaunchBox to "Sega Mega Drive"
    • You can change the names of the 2 files within the theme to match your platform name. They are located in:
      • LAUNCHBOX\Themes\CoverBox\Views\TextGamesView
      • LAUNCHBOX\Themes\CoverBox\Views\TextListView

    Hope this helps.

Ah yes, crazy how a single space caused the issue lol. All fixed, thank you!

  9. Not sure now if this needed a new topic but:

Aside from Coverbox being super awesome, I just cannot get the Sega Megadrive platform to apply the cool blue theme I see in the videos for the theme. Instead I get a generic black screen with purple text. What can I do to fix? I've ensured the platform / emulator name etc are all "Sega Megadrive". I installed it inside the BigBox using the theme manager. Tried uninstalling / reinstalling from there, no luck.
