  1. I did check the Hidden flag but nothing was hidden. Stumped. I just gave up last night and re-imported all ROMs and now I’ll work to create a new playlist.
  2. I set up my arcade years ago with launchbox, mame 2.12, and a full set of 32,000 2.12 roms. I disassembled it and only set it back up a few days ago. Somehow when I originally set it up I configured launchbox to see only 58 games, and then I somehow added a 2nd playlist to see only 32 games. However, I don't have any way in launchbox to see ALL of the 32000 roms or to create new or different playlists, platforms, etc. I have no idea what I did to get here and no idea how to get back 😆 Just to add to this, my full set of mame roms are in a folder in in my mame directory I have a directory in Launchbox called "games" but it's empty I have some playlist files in my launchbox directory but the xml files have some games listed that are not actually showing up in launchbox Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Fair point. I guess I'm just finding the little things to be difficult with launchbox (although it is nice and fast and I did get it up and running very quickly). Maybe it just takes some getting used to. With help from things like Don's Hypertools, I was able to configure HyperSpin to do all of the things I've been talking about in this thread. Now that I have my entire mame collection in launchbox, how do I delete and re-import the short list of games that I want?
  4. No - what I'm saying is, a given game may require a number of files (bios/rom, etc.). The user won't necessarily know all the dependencies of a particular game but I assume that adding a game through a front end would have those dependencies built in (maybe not, but that would be ideal).
  5. Where do I find the standard importer? Can I add one game at a time (after initial import) by dragging individual roms onto launchbox? This would be much easier if I could simply make BigBox launch directly into a playlist (instead of a list of playlists). Adding games as you suggest (by dragging roms onto launchbox) assumes that the user knows which rom(roms, bios files) are required for each game.
  6. How do I import only a small list of games? The only option I saw was to import all mame roms. I assume you're going to tell me that I have to create a separate folder and move some roms into that separate folder? This is really inefficient because then I either have to keep duplicate copies of roms on my computer, or pull some roms out of my complete collection and then remember that those roms have been separated. Also, assuming I create a separate smaller set of roms and import those, what do I do when I decide I want to add one more game? Sorry if this sounds negative - I paid $50 for what seems like a nice and promising front end. I'm just frustrated that some things that seemingly should be obvious and easy are challenging or not possible.
  7. This seems to be a common (and reasonable) request. Many users are using BigBox for arcade cabs. In an arcade, no one wants to wade through hundreds or thousands of games with a joystick to choose the one they want. They probably only want 60-100 games to be available. Requiring a player to navigate through playlists/genres, etc., is a level of complexity that seems unnecessary with a smallish list of games, but that is exactly what is required with BigBox. Launching BigBox into a list of playlists, when you only have 1 playlist, also is very strange and requires the user to understand that they will have to press some button to get to the actual list of available games. This may be the only front end I've used that makes it impossible to launch directly into a simplified list of games that I want to be available to users.
  8. Ok, hopefully last questions. In the attached pictures, you can see that I have my playlist set to be sorted by Title, yet the games are all somehow grouped by version or some other grouping, and as a result, when the player scrolls through the list, they don't appear in alpha order because they're jumping to different groupings. How do I enforce strict alpha order in my playlist? Also, I've got BigBox configured to start with Playlists, but there doesn't appear to be any option to start with a specific playlist, so when BigBox opens, it goes to the Retrotastic screen that I uploaded, with no indication that button press is required to actually open the playlist. I would like BigBox to launch directly into my playlist of games so the user can simply start scrolling through the available games, alphabetically. Is this possible?
  9. Thank you. I never would have found that since I'm on an arcade, not using a mouse.
  10. Thanks. So how do I create my short list of games? I have to do this manually? Short = approx 75 games. It seems really inefficient to do this click by click on my arcade.
  11. Noob here - I would like to set up my machine for a single platform (arcade), with a short list of games. The user shouldn't have to select "arcade" platform before seeing the list of games. Is this possible? Sorry if it has previously been asked. I couldn't find the answer. Also, I have an xml with a short list of games that I use with Hyper. Can I use the same xml with BigBox? If so, how (I've already imported all mame roms, so I assume I have to delete/replace some existing xml with the new xml) Thanks in advance
