It happens to me both if I import from steam/Rom or I if drop an exe. It looks like is parsing emumovies and launch box database but it downloads just one image and nothing more. When I enter edit metadata and download manually it gets everything though.

Same for me BETA 3 doesn't download automatically media files, I have to edit metadata and download them again with the dedicated button. It happens with every platform or storefront.
