  1. Found another neat trick in Gimp for those making logos. Ever cut out a logo and the edges are pixelated or too harsh? You can soften only the edges and fade to transparency without affecting the rest of the image. When you're finished making your logo, merge all layers with content. Right click the layer and select "alpha to selection" Go to the Selection menu and Shrink -- shrink by 1-5 pixels depending on how bad the jaggies are. Now go back to the Selection menu and Invert. Go to the Tool tab and select the Blur tool (default settings are fine) and choose 2. Hardness 75. Make it huge so you can go over the whole image in a few strokes and do exactly that -- give the whole image a once over with the blur tool. It'll only blur the edges that you shrank and inverted. Results look fantastic and free of jagged pixelated edges. Also does a good job of hiding mistakes if you were a little too aggressive in cutting out the original image.
  2. Understood. Thank you. I'll provide additional higher resolution alternatives in future submissions.
  3. If you don't mind me asking, what did I mess up on with my submissions of Spy Hunter and Space Shuttle Project? I take zero offense to having them redone and appreciate it so please don't interpret this as me being defensive, I'm just curious where I screwed up so I can improve in the future. Please be blunt in your critique so I know exactly what I need to work on. It won't hurt my feelings. I'm pretty new at all this and appreciate your feedback.

  7. https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/2008-star-trek:-the-next-generation I submitted the version without a stroke outline but in case you wanted it, here's a second version with a black stroke outline which I think looks better but isn't true to the original. By the way, I'm still waiting on your response for which version of Ski or Die to submit.
  8. I've been thinking about your request for a while and I think I have it figured out. Are you familiar with the program ARRM? It's my preferred way to manage media for multiple front ends. It has the option for you to scrape media of only one type. In this case, you would go into the "Image Options" deselect "4 Images Mode", then under "Force Media Download" select "None" and then only select "Wheel" Then deselect "Missing Media Only" from "Image Options". Then go into "Scrape Options" and once again deselect "Missing Media Only" Then you would tell ARRM to scrape your library with Launchbox . It should only download the latest Clear Logo's and replace your existing ones.
  9. https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/1411-star-trek:-25th-anniversary The original was really rough so I had to recreate it. AI was unfortunately necessary. I didn't replace the logo that was already there, just added this.

  11. https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/1410-stadium-events Used the box back/spine as opposed to the box front which I think works better as a Clear Logo

  15. Sticking with the original resolution -- my attempt to upscale kinda ruins it so I just cut it out and left the defects from the box. https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/359-sky-kid
  16. Man this thing is rough... the original has a ton of strange artifacts. I made two version, one made from the original and upscaled and a version where I enhanced it. First one is enhanced, second one is original. I personally like the enhanced version better but it's not true to the original. Let me know which version you prefer and I'll upload. Make sure to open it up and take a close look before deciding.

  18. This one was difficult. I hate to admit it but I needed AI to reconstruct the "3D" where the car was. I couldn't get it to replicate the glow correctly. Oh the shame lol https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/144661-road-fighters-3d
  19. Sure. In that case, it probably would benefit from a black stroke outline because these won't show up too well on a front-end background. https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/106897-aakushu-youen-no-jidai-wo-koete
  20. @WoodysrZ and here's The Lost Age Same story, upscaling loses too much detail so we gotta stick with the original resolution. Had to get creative to cut this one out and I think it went pretty well. Not perfect but as good as I can get it. https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/3571-golden-sun-the-lost-age I also requested to delete the non-region tagged lower quality one. Should appear as soon as approved.
  21. https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/3569-golden-sun I tried to upscale it but it lost too much detail so sticking with the original resolution.
  22. https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/21292-ultimate-paintball Not perfect but better than nothing. Tracing this out was difficult because of all the semi-transparent white space and brush strokes
  23. High resolution logo for this already exists. What are you requesting? Also, just realized there's many logos from back in 558 and 559 that havent been addressed. If no one else picks them up, I'll try tomorrow, it's getting late.
  24. For anyone wondering, I figured out a pretty neat technique for these hard-to-cut metallic logos. I'd like to explain how: 1) After changing the background to a solid color with whatever method you prefer -- in this case, I made it solid black do the following: 2) In GIMP, create a duplicate of the image. Make the duplicate invisible for now. 3) Create a layer of solid white or black beneathe it. Keep it visible. 4) Use the Color to Alpha Tool on the visible layer. Do your best with Opacity and Transparency. Don't worry too much about parts of the image becoming too transparent, we can fix this later. Just make sure the outline is visible. 5) Duplicate this layer and merge them. 6) Make the layer you just merged invisible and make visible the copy you made earlier. 7) Use either the Fuzzy Select or Select by Color tool to select the background color. Go to Select > Invert. Go to Select > Shrink. Shrink by 1 - 3 pixels -- you want to get inside the logo just barely outside of it's outline. 😎 Now we combine them! Make both layers visible. Put the layer you just edited on top. 9) Use the eraser tool at the pixel level and set force to 50% -- clean up any bright grey/white pixels. You should get results like the one I just posted.
