  1. Im having this on mine as well. I'm using Unified Refried theme.

Restarting BigBox will fix it, but eventually I will get an our of memory error and will need to restart my PC. Maybe I should go looking for a process running in the background.

This PC has been running BigBox for over a year, almost daily. So, either the latest BigBox has a memory leak or my PC is dying. But, seeing this post makes me think there's something in the software.

  2. For people getting this issue (like I am), try using this plugin.

I installed it because another user said it could potentially fix my marquee issue where Teknoparrot marquees won't show.

It DID fix that (YES!) and it also has seemingly fixed or improved the crashing issues that we started seeing in 12.5. I used to get a crash every 6 hours, now I've been running attract mode a few days with no crash.

@Jason Carr just wanted to mention it in case it helps with investigations. If it's a memory leak, maybe something marquee related and this plugin does something differently.

  3. I tried this @HellraiserGN

Normally I would crash consistently within about 6 hours. This time, I was still running around 12 hours so I thought it was fixed. But, alas, I woke up this morning to it having crashed.

So, while 1 test isn't necessarily proof, changing the video possibly made it better, but didn't solve it for me.

  4. I went down the rabbit hole of creating custom marquee images for Big Box. Each game I have on my cabinet has a custom marquee with the custom controls baked in. 300 or so games. A lot of fighters, light gun games, emulated games, and a few guitar hero/rock band games.

I packed up all the source and have linked it for anyone here that wants to attempt something as crazy.

Lots of png's for logos, characters, consoles, etc. psd's for the marquees, but also for control panel templates to create your own. Fonts included as well.

Hope someone can get a use out of it!

  5. Well, changing the game to run in Windowed mode fixes the marquee issue. The game runs tiny in the middle of monitor 1, but the marquee is there being shown correctly.

I changed the game to run at 1080p and it still breaks.

For science, I even changed my monitor to 1080p and ran the game at 1080p. This was a different result, where the marquee was showing on the right half side of the marquee while my desktop wallpaper was on the left side.

  6. Hi all,

BigBox won't display my marquee images for Teknoparrot games. It works for all other games / emulators. (actually it does work for Tekken 7 on TP, not sure why)

This is huge for my set up, since I have marquee images made for each game that shows the controls.

Here's a video of the problem. You can see it switching resolutions for the game, then the marquee goes black, and that's it. I'm not sure what it's showing there - my desktop isn't black.

A few things about my config:

    BigBox: In marquees, I have

    • Ignore Theme Marquee Views - OFF
    • Stretch Marquee images to fill screen - ON
    • Screen Hardward Compat Mode: none

I've tried lots of variations on those settings, but I don't want to break all 300+ other games that show their marquees correctly.

    System:

    • PC build - i7-3770k, gtx 1070 ti
    • monitor 1 is a 4k monitor. monitor 2 is at 720. Both set to display at 100% scaling

    Games

    • DoA 5 Arcade (shown in the link) is set to run at 4k from Teknoparrot
    • Other games like Virtua Fighter 5 Rev C don't have any resolution settings, so they run at whatever their default is (definitely not 4k). That one has the same issue.

Any help would be great. Thanks!

  7. Thanks for the replies!

A few breakthroughs have been made, but still puzzling.

Supermodel 3 works great now with a solve I found here. Basically the answer for this was:

Right click supermodel.exe > Properties > Compatibility > High DPI Settings > Tick the checkbox "Ignore scaling" and select "Application".

That fix doesn't seem to work for my Teknoparrot problem. I've tried it on the TeknoparrotUI.exe (didn't expect that to work) and specific game exes. But maybe it's something similar?

If you swap position layout of the panels in Windows display settings does it have any affect?

My monitor position is side by side in Windows. I adjusted it slightly just to see if jiggling the handle would do anything, but no. I moved the small monitor to the top of the main monitor in Windows and that just broke all the marquees.

Maybe check the resolution/format of the ones not working as this may be an issue ? (Look and see if they are exactly the same as the one that works)

    Did some tests.

So, each game behaves a little differently.

    • Tekken7 works when the desktop is at 4k, but I'm there's no way to set its game resolution in TP so I don't know what the game is running at. Probably 4k, because Tekken's marquee displays wrong when I'm running 1080p desktop.
    • DOA5 doesn't work at all, even if the desktop resolution matches the games resolution.
    • Alien Extermination does works whenever the game rez matches the desktop rez, (tried at 4k and 1080p), but not when they don't match. This game is slow mo for me at 4k though.

I tried changing my main window resolution to 1920x1080 just to test, and the TP marquee's look like this (displaying, but offset to the right by almost half)

  8. In Launchbox, right click on the platform in your list in the right. Go to Edit.

Then go to Images. You'll see a small image previewer there. Click on the little yellow + above the image viewer and find your image you want to use. Then, make sure it's marked as a Clear Logo in that same area.

This is all from memory (not on the Launchbox PC at the moment) but you should be able to find it pretty easily.

I also believe the correct path would be "E: \ LaunchBox \ Images \ Platforms \  Pinball \ Clear Logos" But check your other images folders to make sure I have that correctly. Either way should work.

  9. Hi all,

As the title says, my Big Box digital marquee works very reliably with everything I throw at it, except Teknoparrot games.

And even then, Tekken 7 does display the digital marquee correctly through Teknoparrot. No other games do, though.

This video below shows the issue. I try to load Sega Golden Gun and the marquee monitor shows a portion of the Big Box game view instead of the marquee image. (it's confusing because the Big Box game view has the marquee image on it).

To reiterate, this issue happens on 16 out of the 17 Teknoparrot games I have. They are a mix of fighters, racers and light gun games.

This video below shows it working with Teknoparrot on Tekken 7. This is the only Teknoparrot game marquee to show correctly out of 17 games.

Here are my settings in TP for each game. There is nothing there for resolution or anything else that would seem related, and both games have Windowed mode turned off.

    Some info on my machine:

    • Windows 10
    • GeForce 1070 Ti
    • Both monitors are set to 100% scaling in windows display settings, and "no scaling" in Nvidia Control panel.
    • My main monitor is 3840x2160 (4k) and HDR.
    • My digital marquee is 1920x1080 and not HDR.

I'm adding a few videos just to show that the digital marquee also works with every other emulator I've thrown at it (PCSX2, MAME, Cemu, Dolphin, Project64, Redream) and Steam.

Bouncing between HDR and different resolutions for all the other emulators doesn't seem to give it any problem.

I really appreciate any help! I've been sorting out the bugs of this cabinet for so long and this is one of the last issues I've yet to solve on my own.

I'll be happy to answer any other questions about my set up.

    Thanks in advance!
