  1. @superrob3000 I just want to say thank you again for this plug-in. I was one of the first to start using it when you posted it. I keep forgetting to send you a Paypal donation for it because the machine it is installed on is NOT connected to the internet so I can't click on the link for that embedded in the plug in. I am using it for a very basic purpose - that is - displaying a marquee image on a second monitor + running video on a lcd bar topper screen for my home video slot machine. I like that you added audio playback for the screens - but the mute doesn't seem to work properly. Setting the 'Mute' option doesn't seem to always shut off the audio on the videos when browsing games. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Ultimately - it would be great to have the audio of the screen (in my case: marquee and topper) play while browsing games, and THEN turn OFF when the game is actually launched. Then have the audio turn back ON when the game is quit and return to the menu screens for game browsing again. I would think that would be the best option for any gamer because many people have demo videos and samples playing on separate screens for browsing and then the audio would shut off when game is launched as to not interfere the actual game play. If that is the intent already in place with the Mute option, it doesn't appear to be working properly. Although it my just be me having this issue because it doesn't seem others have reported on this. Other than that - this plug in is absolutely amazing and fills the much needed void that LaunchBox + Big Box was lacking. Thanks again.
  2. @superrob3000 Oh I agree. In most peoples cases, they would want to sound off on the marquee or any other screen. Mine is a unique / special case I guess. Ideally - if there was a option / setting (either a pulldown or check box) for each screen with 3 choices of behavior: 1.) mute audio, 2.) play audio in front end - but mute when game is launched 3.) Leave audio on all the time. If you ever have the time to perhaps add this feature - that would be very cool. But I know how 'life' gets in the way of these sortta things. Regardless - still the best plug in I ever installed on Launch / Big Box.
  3. First off - BRAVO on creating this plug-in. As mentioned before, I was using bat files to have VLC open videos on my marquee and topper screens for my home "casino" cabinet I just finished. This plug in is way way way way better. 1 thing I cant seem to figure out - some of my topper videos and marquees have ambient music and sound efx tracks as part of the video and with this plug-in, audio from the videos doesn't play through - ie: there is no audio coming through. I went through every setting and screen to try and find this option, but with no joy. Does the plug in support audio from the video? or is there a setting I missed somewhere? Please advise. Attached are pictures of my slot machine cab. The "bright" one I was still working on all the wiring for it - so excuse the mess.
This is absolutely brilliant! I was using LaunchBox / Big Box to open VLC bat files to run marquee and topper videos on my system, but this is a much more solid and cleaner approach. Thank you so much for making this plug-in. This is a MUST HAVE for anyone wanting to upgrade their front end for their cabinet / system. Tell me where and how to donate for creation of this great plug-in?
  4. Greetings all, I just started using Launchbox / BigBox for a project I have been working on because it seemed like the best front end to use and could be customized with the Theme Creator. I have been building a 3 screen (1 touch screen + 1 marquee screen + 1 topper screen) video / digital slot machine - that uses both local slot games and also online free slot demo games. This is all just for fun to add to my home arcade and none of the "gambling" is real. Adding the local host games was easy, and I was able to have launchbox launch google chrome in full screen while passing the params for the urls to the free online slots games I enjoy. Getting launchbox to seamlessly open the urls was a chore - but I finally got it working nicely with relative easy as to how to add all the links, etc. Once I get it fully functioning - I am going to build a small cab to mount it on the wall in my gameroom. Something I was struggling with initially was the 2 screen marquee screen setup - but eventually got it work well - I had to force big box to open the marquee images 1920x1080 instead of the smaller size and the scale them up - which looked fuzzy and pixelated. I don't think the marquee feature was originally made to have 1920x1080 marquees - but this is where I can display the payouts for the slots and other graphics that add a LOT to the look of the setup. Now (for the point of this post) ... Something that isn't incorporated into launchbox / big box is a 3 screen capability. Coming from the digital pinball world, I wanted to include a 1280x360 17" topper to the cabinet with Casino signage, or other cool videos / images. This cannot be done in the traditional way through BigBox, at least not yet. I figured out a work-around using Videolan's VLC player which is a very very very powerful playback engine that not only can play just about every single video format imaginable, but it can also display image files like JPEGS and PNGs. All this with practically no "load" on the CPU so there is no game slowdown at all. I am using one of those mini / micro pcs because the slot games have very low memory / cpu performance requirements. I have launchbox start vlc BEFORE opening chrome and pass it a variable to either display a generic image / video on the topper or a custom one for a specific slot machine. When BigBox quits chrome, it tells vlc to go back to the generic topper video / image. It all work flawlessly and vlc NEVER steals focus from the emulator or launchbox. This was NOT easy to figure out how to do and took many days of going round and round trying different ways to do it and after the 1001x try - it worked. This concept can be applied to any game system, mame, nintendo, etc and not just for what I am making. If there is interest in this proof or concept and approach so others can have 3+ screen images / video, I am willing to make a tutorial with all the info and settings required ... but only if there is interest because any tutorial would be quite time consuming, and I wouldn't want to put it all done and no one cares. Let me know if this is something you would be interested in learning about how to do.
