Steam on Linux went from 2.23% in February to 5.33% in March.
That is a 3.1% difference in the overall steam install base. BUT...
That’s a 139% increase in the linux install base — more than doubling its install base in a single month.
That’s honestly kind of insane. I can’t think of many times an existing OS (not a brand-new release going from 0%) has grown that fast. Maybe something like the transition from DOS/Windows 3.1 to Windows 95, but even then that was a platform shift, not a sudden spike like this. Has anything else like this ever happened? I don’t think any established Windows version has ever more than doubled its install base in a single month.
Check my Math: 5.33 − 2.23 = 3.10
To find the percentage increase: (3.10 ÷ 2.23) × 100 ≈ 139%
t is wild to me that Bazzite Fedora/wasn't even in the top 5-10 flavors of linux in the list though. obviously about half is Arch with is SteamOS/CachyOS
Would love to see launchbox on linux honestly running windows on a arcade machine totally blows.
