  1. That's immensely helpful thank you! While I was waiting I decided to write a powershell script instead. I also wrote one to find any game that does not have a DB ID number too. Happy to upload either/or if anyone else was interested.
  2. I've tried researching this but not coming up with much. I have 7000 games in a platform and only a handful have missing media. Is there a quick and easy way to show all the ones that are missing? The "Games missing media" gives you absolutely everything so a) takes time and b) is a bit of a pain to sort through. I am aware of the audit which although it gives me what I want and can sort it is fairly slow and unresponsive because of the amount of data there. I wondered if there was a quicker way that I am missing?
  3. Bear in mind that because these are categories they are currently blank and no images exist, so having to edit, search for the image etc. is actually a pain especially as I have a load to do. It would be so much easier just to know where to dump images into the folder structure.
  4. I've just been playing with this. There are two images on the right hand side of the screen: I have managed to get the bottom one to appear by placing it in: LaunchBox\Images\Platform Categories\BBC\Banner but I cannot get the top one to appear? I have navigated to: LaunchBox\Images\Platform Categories and called it "BBC.png" (which is how I interpreted your instruction?) But that does not work. I have managed to edit it manually and change the image to "Clear Logo (override)" so can you confirm what folder I need to drop the image into because in LaunchBox\Images\Platform Categories\BBC there is no clear logo folder?
  5. Thank you for all your help, it's much appreciated. I still have a lot to learn but I absolutely love Launchbox! While grappling with sorting everything out I have barely had time to properly look at Big Box yet!
  6. The only reason I wanted to create it as a platform rather than a category is that the Platform adds the nice graphics and icons whereas the platform is just blank. "Microsoft MSX" has the icon where I imported the Roms whereas the one I created "MSX" just looks blank. I know it's just cosmetics but it would be nice to be able to just have that behaviour by default I guess
  7. I'm not trying to import into a category, I'm trying to import into a platform (see last message). I have created a platform called "BBC Test". If I go into Manage platforms, I can see it. Currently its parent is "Computers" but it does not show (because there is nothing in it I assume.) I have then imported roms. This created its own list by default. I then right-click this list and basically want to change the parent to BBC Test ... but that does not show in the list. This is where it all falls apart for me.
  8. This makes a lot of sense and helps me a lot. So I have right-clicked Computers, New platform and called it BBC. However it does not show in the list so prevents me from moving forwards? I had a look under "Manage > Platforms" and can see it was created, and when I edit it it is populated perfectly so this is a step in the right direction. So what I need to be able to do now is to see BBC in the left then right click it and create a category and then import my games into that - but I can't because it's not visiible?
  9. Can someone help me get my head around Platform categories. If I import Roms and choose Atari 2600, it creates a folder under Consoles and has a little icon for the Atari next to it. When you click into it, on the right hand side at the top it has the Atari 2600 image then underneath that has a picture of the console. I love all this! Where I am falling into a problem is that I want to create folders on the left hand side. For the BBC I have disks and cassettes so what I ideally want is under "Computers" for there to be BBC - but no games in here. I then want a folder "in" BBC called "disks" and a second folder called "cassettes". I'm unsure on the best way to go about this. If I manually create a folder on the left just called "BBC" it doesn't have the BBC icon. I understand this because Launchbox doesn't know or understand what it is. I really can't get my head around the best way to import and then sort this. As I say I want a "BBC" under computers which has the nice icons but no games and then sub categories of "Disks" and "cassettes" under that. I've also discovered that if I try to circumvent the "tools import" wizard then I lose a lot of information like all the text in the "details" tab as well as the notes tab. I guess what I am trying to achieve is for it to create that platform with all of the details but without it importing anything at that stage - if that makes sense? Any help would be appreciated as I'm going round in circles!
  10. Thanks for that. A lot of learning required here lol
  11. My understanding of the fuse emulator is that it is already complete, i.e. no BIOS or ROMS required, and that the pentagon and scorpion roms are Russian hardware clones. So what I was really getting at is why is it bringing up this alert when probably in most cases they are not required? (Unless I have it all horribly wrong?) This started because none of my games will work, so because it's complaining about these ROMs I assumed they had something to do with it ... but now I'm starting to doubt that and believe there may actually be some other issue.
  12. I go to Import roms, point at the folder, change to "Sinclair ZX Spectrum", choose retroarch but then I get a message saying missing dependency files. There are 8 in total. 4 are for "Pentagon machines" and 4 are for "Scorpion machines". I have checked retroarch and under spectrum it has "fuse_libretro". I have no idea why it is asking for these files. Can anyone help?
  13. I wanted to move my already imported games to a different drive. They were in I:\Emulators\Atari2600\Games. I moved them to E:\Emulators\Atari2600\Games. I did the following: 1) Right-clicked Atari2600 on the left hand side, Edit, Folders. I changed the folder to the new location. 2) Highlighted all games, Tools, File management, Change Roms folder path for all games. Pointed at the new folder. It then updated itself so all appears fine. However now when I try to start a game it just loads the emulator (Stella). It's like it's either not passing the full path any more or is erroring somehow. I have changed nothing else. The other weird thing I noted is that if I go to manage emulators then stella, in the "associated platforms" box there is a default command line parameter set of "-f". (fullscreen mode.) If I remove this then everything works fine again. This was always there so I don't understand why this is breaking all of a sudden when all I did was move the games folder. My educated guess is that it is somehow now corrupting the line, i.e instead of saying "stella.exe -f "full path to rom"" it is corrupting it because of this parameter? Am I just missing something obvious or is this a potential bug?
  14. What an awesome reply. Thank you
