  1. I have nifty AutoIT script to pretty much do what you're asking. It loads Demul, loads the game, and then send the emulator to full screen. It even makes it easy to close the game when you're done. If you want each game to have its own memory card, go to the Demul game save directory and make a copies of the blank memory card for every game you own. Also make copies of the Demul.ini file. Place each game, its associated memory card file, and a copy of the ini file into separate directories. Open the ini file. In the VMSA0 line, enter the file path and name of the memory card file. Once that's done, just run the following AutoIt script (you will need a copy of AutoIT [it's free!] to either run or compile the script). Opt("WinTitleMatchMode", 1) HotKeySet("{ESC}", "Terminate") $app = "C:\Emulators\Demul\demul.exe" ; replace this with the correct Demul path $game = "C:\filepath\game.cdi" ; replace this with the file path and file name of the game ; The script will copy the new ini file to the Demul directory, thus giving each game its own memory card. ; Make sure you replace "filepath\Demul.ini" and the emulator file path with the correct file paths. ; Note that the ini file must stay name "Demul.ini", or Demul will not recognize it. FileCopy("C:\filepath\Demul.ini", "C:\Emulators\Demul\Demul.ini", 1) Run($app & ' -run=dc -image="' & $game & '"', "C:\Emulators\Demul") WinWaitActive ( "gpu" ) Send("!{ENTER}") While 1 Sleep(100) WEnd Func Terminate() ProcessClose ( "demul.exe" ) Exit 0 EndFunc Enjoy!!
  2. That would probably work. The extras folder in BSII is in the game's root directory.
  3. Hi Jason. Nope, it is very specifically an extras path. Load up ScummVM by itself and click on a game in the queue. If you don't have any game listed, add one to see what I'm talking about. Click the edit button. In the dialogue window that opens, click the last tab on the right. There you should see options for a number of file paths. I think there are three of them: the game path, the save path, and the extras path. Not every game needs that extras path, but Broken Sword II is definitely one that does. I just took a look in the ScummVM manual. The command line switch for the extras path is --extrapath=PATH. I found the list of command line options here: http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/User_Manual/Appendix:_Command_line_options Hope this helps.
  4. I'm having trouble running Broken Sword II correctly from within LaunchBox/BigBox. The game runs fine, but none of the movies will play. Certain games, like this one, stores the movies in an extras folder, and ScummVM requires that you define the path to that folder. I've defined it withtin ScummVM, and everything works as it should when launched directly from ScummVM. However, when run from LaunchBox, the game reports that the movie files are missing. This tells me that LaunchBox is ignoring ScummVM's own settings and imposing its own. Would it be possible to add a field in the ScummVM tab where we can define the extras path? Thanks, as always.
  5. I fixed it. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the XML file. For some reason, I initially must have set it up as a DOSBox game but with LaunchBox pointing to an old .lnk file. At a later point, I must have decided to go with ScummVM. Which meant that I deleted all of the files that DOSBox actually needed (as ScummVM just needs a few basic game files to run). I guess the .lnk pointing at non-existant files confused LaunchBox. Anyway, to cut a long story short (too late), I edited the XML file so that Curse was properly listed as a ScummVM game with all directories properly listed and accounted for. Thanks again for the help.
  6. I'm having trouble selecting "The Curse of Monkey Island" in the library. Every time I so much as hover my cursor over the box art, I get the following error message: System.ArgumentException: Illegal characters in path. at System.IO.Path.GetFileName(String path) at LaunchBox.Data.Game.GetResourceFileFromFolder(String folder, Boolean imagesOnly) at LaunchBox.Data.Game.GetDefaultMusicPath() at LaunchBox.Controls.GamesControl.GamesControl_MouseMove(Object sender, MouseEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventHandler.Invoke(Object sender, MouseEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseMove(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) I have recently moved the folder to another drive, but I have done this with other games in the past without this issue cropping up (whatever it is). Unfortunately, even after clearing the error message, LaunchBox won't let me select the game to edit to see what's wrong, or delete to start over. Any ideas on this? Is there a way to manually delete the game from the library without having to go through LaunchBox directly? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, as always.
  7. I had similar problem going from Kodi to BigBox. The funny thing is, I only got there error if I had explorer.exe running. If I use Kodi as a shell and go right from Kodi to BigBox, the issue goes away. As that's my normal preference, I have no issue. BigBix itself is a great achievement. Very user friendly. It pretty much solves the very few issues I ever had with LaunchBox. Right now, the only thing on my wish list would be the ability to sort by platform, genre, series, etc. like it's possible with LaunchBox. Thanks once again for all your hard work on this program. I have very rarely come across a developer as willing to integrate users ideas into the project as you. It is greatly appreciated.
  8. Thanks for seconding the motion, so to speak. To the best of my knowledge, there is no gaming front-end that let's you sort by series. I think it could prove to be a very handy feature. And I agree that this, if implemented, would probably go in the premium features because it would most likely rely on user-generated input. Having said that, Wikipedia lists which series a game falls under, at least for the larger titles. So that could probably be at least one automated source for the data.
  9. Would it be possible to add a "Series" field to a game's metadata? Ideally, it should function exactly as the "Genre" field, meaning that it should accept multiple entries. Just as a game can be a platformer and adventure with stealth elements and therefore fit all three genres, so too can games be grouped into more than one series. Final Fantasy is probably the best example of this. First there is the main series with Final Fantasies I-XIV, but then there are the FFIV duology, the FFVII series, FFX duology, the Ivalice Alliance, and FFXIII trilogy. Each of these series also has at least one of the main series games in it. But the main series also has games that never began their own franchise. Mario is another one with multiple characters being spin-offs of other series. Heck, even the original Donkey Kong can be considered as part of the Donkey Kong series and Mario series.
  10. A quick update: Somehow, I missed the check box that enables all controllers plugged into the computer to control LB. Checking the box allowed me to control things with an NES controller, regardless of when the controller was plugged into the computer. Start and Select controlled the zoom, A selected a menu, and B was the enter key. The d-pad moved the mouse cursor around. I'd still like to see additional keyboard support, but this goes a long way toward solving my problem. Thanks, as always.
  11. My wife and I are a bit OCD when it comes to old consoles. When I sit down to a Genesis game, I have a Genesis controller in my hands. Same for NES, SNES, Dreamcast, etc. All of them either have direct USB plugs, or adapters. And I wouldn't expect support for any of them. I'm under no illusions about the controller support, believe me. I only plug them in when I sit down to a retro game. Regardless of which controller I have plugged in, I use my remote control for the actual selection. To answer your other question concerning which keyboard combination I might find easiest... the Ecs key doesn't seem to be visibly used for anything. Would that be possible? Failing that, how about Ctrl, Right Arrow. I could program that to a button very easily. As far as getting back to the main game selection, why not just have it trigger with the Enter key?
  12. So far, I have been very pleased with this launcher. It provides a very attractive and simple interface for accessing my collection. There is one thing I haven't been able to figure out, however. Is it possible to access the Filter pane on the left using only the keyboard? So far, the only thing the arrow keys are capable of is moving around the main area. I can't get the selection to move over to Filter pane without first grabbing either a mouse or a 360 controller, the latter of which must first be activated before starting LaunchBox. Once I have the cursor over in the left pane, usually via mouse, there is no way to move it back again that I have found using just the keyboard. I'm assuming at the moment that there is a magic keyboard combo just haven't discovered yet. If not, I would request that this functionality be added. I have a remote control programmed with FLIRC (software that allows a remote control to emulate a keyboard, for those who might be interested) to navigate my HTPC. While I do use a 360 controller for certain games, when playing emulated games I prefer to use a retro game controller appropriate to the system, and these do not appear to be supported by your software. Otherwise, I have been very happy with how LaunchBox is coming along.
