  1. Is there any way Launchbox can move the game files to new platform folders if I change it in the metadata? Sometimes I import a game and it gets assigned to the wrong platform (Say a Sega MegaDrive game going into a Genesis folder), or the file name had a typo or something that I would like to correct without re-importing. But if I change the metadata to be the correct name and platform, it doesn't change the actual imported game file. Is there any way for the system to automatically move the game files as well, so that if I have everything within Launchbox fixed I can be assured the game files themselves will be organized and named correctly as well?
  2. Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this, but I'm just wondering if anyone can help shed light on this. I'm trying to compile large amounts of data across hundreds of games (# of Players, Age Rating, Genre, etc.) and I have found that TheGamesBD.net is a good source for this info. What I'm trying to learn now, is how to scape the data from this site to have it populate into a Google Sheet. I know LaunchBox scrapes data from here so perhaps some of the code is similar? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! UPDATE: Here is where I'm at so far, I have been able to display: Players: Co-op: Genres: Release Date: Developer: Publisher: By using the code: =importxml(A1,"//span[@class='grey']") "A1" being a cell with the URL of the game I'm interested in. Still trying to figure out how to get the actual values for those categories to populate.
  3. Hey Jason, One follow up question, I'm not sure if you can shed any light on. In the XML it appears to me as there is no order to the list of games. It's not stored alphabetically by title or even Launchbox ID. It doesn't appear to be listed by date added or any other criteria of the metadata. I'm hoping to find a way to edit the XML directly so that I can batch some of this information, but I can't for the life of me figure out why the games are in the order they are. Thanks for your help with the previous question. I seriously love your work with this project and try to spread the word about it to anyone who will listen!
  4. I have been going through my collection and revamping all the metadata I include in the game. One that is very important for me is the number of players. Now, within Launchbox I can easily edit a custom "Player" field to include this information. But when I go into the XML I cannot find that info anywhere. Can anyone give insight into where this data may be stored? Thanks.
  5. Is there a way to handle pointing to the unique Config file in Launchbox? I found this instructional stating that this command line sample: "C:\Games\Playstation 2\PCSX2\pcsx2-r4600.exe" "C:\Games\Playstation 2\Final Fantasy X.iso" --cfgpath="C:\Games\PCSX2 configs\FFX-inis" could be used to launch the game with the unique configuration. Now currently any values Launchbox adds to the command line come before the .iso call, and this tutorial says it needs to be after the call to the .iso. So is there any way this might be able to work? ALSO, is there any way to have it launch with unique memory cards as well? I have hundreds of PS2 games, so I'm trying to streamline it as much as possible.
  6. I had noticed the "Play Mode" field, though I didn't realize that was being pulled from thegamesdb! I know you must have a "planned feature" list a mile long, so I apologize for the picky-ness of my request. I just saw thegamesdb's exact player # field as an opportunity to have a little more detail and control. I feel there is a fairly large gap between the scenarios where someone would be looking to play a 2-player game vs. offering up games to a group of 4, though I guess there are few enough good party games as it is that I can settle for making my own custom playlists. Thanks for the reply, keep up the fantastic work!
  7. Thanks for the help and the warm welcome! I gotta say, I spent months trying to find the right front-loader setup. Then I came along Launchbox and it was very much a "where have you been all my life?" kind of moment.
  8. I'm new to Launchbox and loving every bit of it. However, there are a couple of things I think are sorely missing: 1) Storing the Number of Players and whether Co-Op is a feature in the game info. I store my whole library of games in the Launchbox and it would be incredibly helpful to have the ability to sort "1 player", "2 players", "2+ players", "4 players" etc. for when others join in. Thegamesdb.net has fields for "Player #" and "Co-Op: Yes, No, N/A" so I would think it's possible to scrape that info. As a pet project, I'm trying to go through as many games as I can, to update this information on thegamesdb.net, so I assure you if this detail is added to the scraping process there will be enough games documented to make it worth while. Also, I recognize that there are "Single player" and "Multiplayer" values in the info, but I think that is too board for the situations I'm thinking. 2) Video Previews I know this has been pitched in the past, but I see this as the main feature that is holding Launchbox back from being the clear-cut best front loader out there. When trying to find the ideal front loader, video previews were the most enticing feature (certainly for Hyperspin and Rom Collection Browser). I know this is probably considerably tougher than my first ask, but I just want to throw it out there since I think it would enhance the experience of using Launchbox tenfold. 3)Parental Controls I know I'm in the minority of people that would actually get something out of this. With little ones in the house, it would be nice to find some way to lock out the games I think are too mature (Whether not letting them open it, or not seeing the boxart altogether). I know there are several ways around this that I could do, but I just wanted to bring it up as a thought so that when my wife wants to let them play something while I'm not around, we can all rest assured that it will be age-appropriate. Thanks for listening!
