  1. Here's an example game: https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/17296 Across 3 different regions it had three different names. However, since I group all the copies of a game under the main USA version in LaunchBox, I am unable to search for it by any of the additional names, like Final Knockout or Chavez 2. I tried making custom fields for them, but those don't seem to be searchable. Is there anything I can do to make a game searchable by more than one name short of putting all three of the names into the Title field together?
  2. Hey, can I ask what the guidelines are / will be for foreign releases (like Japanese versions of international releases)? With all this talk about this db being the "most stable and accurate source for game data available", I hope that goes as far as to include a good system for foreign game metadata. I realize I might be in the minority in wanting region-specific metadata, but it would be nice if the option was there for those of us who would add and use that data. Personally, the things that are important to me are region-specific titles (at least the romaji in the case of Japanese games, but an alternate title with Japanese characters would be lovely too), release date (since this is very often different for international releases), the ability to have different descriptions or at least have somewhere to mention what differences there might be between releases, and different images for each release (box front and back being the most important to me). I don't know if this is on the radar at all for the db, but I just thought I'd add in my thoughts as someone who would make extensive use of and help contribute towards this sort of stuff if it were added.
  3. Is it possible to have two games with the same name but have them use different images and media? There are a couple situations where the Japanese version of a game is just named with the English title (or something super close to it like ActRaiser vs Actraiser), and I'd like it if each could have their own proper cover art. The best I could come up with so far is something like "Actraiser - Japan". But I find that less than ideal. Is there any other way to accomplish this?
  4. And I'm grateful! I was just seeing if anyone did have a big local db, so I could throw together a solution for my own needs in a couple of minutes. But if that doesn't happen, it's nice to know you guys are working on your own solution :)
  5. Sharing the XML wouldn't be viable. All of the paths to roms and emulators would be wrong. But wouldn't that data be easily scriptable into the Metadata.xml file to use for local tagging? I don't know how all the internals of LaunchBox work, but I've looked around the xml enough to be pretty sure all I need is a simple script.
  6. I'm saddened that this all happened the week I decided to start using LaunchBox in earnest and get all my game organized :( I wonder if there is anyone out there with a large amount of data already scraped and if they could share their xml with us? I'm sure there's got to be at least some people who already did a lot of the work.
