  1. I'd be willing to contribute to a Japanese translation if needed. Would serve my benefit as well of helping me as well when the GF/ Friends use my the system
  2. Yeah we discussed it a little bit in the Troubleshooting thread but I thought I would bring it up here in the official suggestions forum to make sure it was in the right place to open it as an actual suggestion / discussion. Ah, ok I knew the DB had a region field but wasn't sure if it was actually being used for anything besides sorting purposes or anything like that. And as I mentioned in the other thread I am definitely willing to help with getting the Japan region more cleaned up and populated. Just looking for the best way to contribute. i.e. I didn't want to populate my local database(xml) with information that doesn't align with the uploading requirements. I don't know how the DB is currently setup(OOM vs RDM) so it is hard to have ideas on the best way to implement althoughyou guys have probably already discussed this quite a lot . But going with what you are suggesting it would be an Relational setup... So there would be a main table for the game which just has all of the various names that it could be scraped by. Then you would have a sub(related) table for each region containing the information/media links for that region. So when a game is scraped it first finds the title, then checks for a region, and then pulls the information that matches the title/region. This would work with roms that actually have the region in the filename but it would also be easy to add a dropdown to the import section to manually specify a region for that import. I think a setup like that would allow you to maintain one "game" in LB but it covers multiple regions. So then just an option when selecting the game to select a region you want to play/view
  3. So I'm not sure how many people would really use it but it's it possible to create an additional DB system for the Japan systems to scrape against? Lots of unique games and often very different box art etc for the Japanese games. Would be nice to differentiate them more. Although I assume most people combine all the region Tom's and only keep 1g1r style. Just seeing how much work it would be to add additional system categories vs how many people would actually use it
  4. Thanks for the quick response!. Those are good tips, but I was actually looking for sort of a combination of the auto wizard/manual edit. Most other types of scrapers will give you the option when scraping a group that "xx number of titles couldn't be found in the database, would you like to manually match them?". I can do it manually as it won't take much longer, just a lot more clicking edit and searching instead of an automated proceed to next unmatched title kind of thing. Maybe I can write a script to to that/interface with the DB. So many databases mark the game titles in so many different way that it is hard to know if I should title the roms with Kanji/Kana or Romaji. And when using romaji the amount of variances in titles can be huge. I would be glad to help try and standardize some of the japanese games/titles in the DB. Also as a side note, how are you arranging your rom sets for the different systems / regions? I initially wanted to keep all of the regions of the game under one title using the alternate mapping but that turned out to be a TON of manual work and kind of hard to navigate. So now I basically have two systems for each console example.... GameBoy - This one holds english games ゲームボイ - This on hold all of the Japanese language games I could pare it down to a single copy per game I guess but sometimes I feel like playing the English version or Japanese version depending on the game.
  5. Thank you very much for the download! It is working great and I am almost done with my import!
  6. So most of my games are scraping correctly but a lot of the Japanese titles are not. I have found the bulk Download metadata/Art tool but that only works when the scraper finds a matching title. Is there an option to bulk edit titles that are not matching anything in the database? If I edit them individually it works but it would be nice to be able to go through a list and then bulk donwload the metadata / artwork. Any way to accomplish this?
  7. Just started using LaunchBox this past weekend and absolutely love it! Totally fits all of my needs for the setup I am going for. However; I have a few small issues. I am running version 6.11 and apparently sometime in the past few versions the xml file was split which is a good thing for future changes and speed/stability. This causes issues with some 3rd party tools and utilities that are still looking for a single XML file. While I have some workarounds to get some of them working, an important tool that I was going to use for the initial import/organization doesn't really work with the split xml style. Is there a way for me to downgrade or possibly just uninstall and re-install an older version? Just want to get the initial setup completed and then re-upgrade to 6.11 or whatever. TL;DR - I am looking for a LaunchBox install for the last version with a unified xml system.
