Definitely a bit of manual work needed hah but all done and worked...thanks!
-
Yeah that’s what I’m hoping for. Will try to work it out soon
-
Ok I'll give this a shot! I'm ok with setting things up manually since I don't have a lot of games to add anyway. I was going by the epicfail guide but the instructions are problematic...even the last comment for the post from another user is invalid. It would be a helpful guide / tool but it definitely needs some cleanup. But will give the manual route a try

Is it supposed to use Dosbox in that case? I tried the method you mention and it tried using Dosbox but a game failed to load.
-
I’m finding different ways of handling ms dos games but none of them seem to work. I can load the games just fine with scummvm. Can’t seem to do the same via launch box. Also is there a preference between scummvm vs retroarch

Potentially related but I don't think it's the only issue... I noticed one thing - the importer doesn't seem to consider that the games in a certain romset may be filtered? I used http://adb.arcadeitalia.net/ to filter out a bunch of games I don't want and as I was going through the re import process... 1. Launchbox is trying to add a lot more games than in my romset (2000+ vs. 700) 2. It seems to not care what is in the folder. On #2, as an example, it's going to add X-men pointing to "xmen2pa.zip" but that no longer exists

Actually, I mentioned I have both. The bold text in the original post mentions both mames. I installed it manually in a different directory to test because the LauchBox auto handling was not working. It’s likely the same reason the manual install didn’t work initially. I needed to update the mame ini file for OpenGL. I haven’t checked if that can be handled as a parameter when launching the app. also strange that one game works from Launchbox while two others don’t but yeah maybe some path handling required maybe some issue with the ini files since I had to create them manually instead of at first launch through launch box
-
It should be. I used auto and it downloaded the mame app into the emulators folder. I’ll check later if it is pointing to it. with that said, running mame manually in the same folder also leads to issues with the app thinking roms are missing. Should launchbox not handled roms location automatically? I’ll have to confirm what name.ini has it could be some disconnect of where the roms are. I would have expected launching mame from LaunchBox would have created the ini files

Hi. Trying to get things working with LaunchBox but not sure what's going on. Outside of Launchbox MAME .260 non merged set MAME .260 manually installed Tried three games (Smash TV, Teenage Mutant Turtles, Simpsons) - all work without issue. I did have to make an edit to mame.ini to change the OSD video option to "opengl". I am still unclear why this is necessary but it fixes the loading issue. Now MAME .260 within LaunchBox... 1. Games do not launch whatsoever nor are any ini files created 2. I executed "mame -cc" within the LaunchBox mame emulator folder to create ini files 3. Update mame.ini with opengl 4. Smash TV works - the other two do not. If I try to launch the game directly within the LaunchBox emulator folder, I get an error that rom files are missing. Any reason for this behavior?

Ah I think I figured it out. Sorry, it's been a while since I've added a new platform so forgot that the proper way of doing it is via "Import ROMs" rather than adding it via "Manage Platforms" I wasn't trying to add WiiU games. I already have that. The problem is if I choose "Scan for Added Roms - All Platforms" - it will scan all the files within the WiiU folders. I forgot that I need to avoid using that option (unless there is a way to set Launchbox to only search for certain files including rpx)
-
I'm trying to add a new platform but Launchbox dies on me because it then tries to scan everything I already have in the app - most notably are WiiU games that are many files within folders that it tries to scan. I just killed the app via task manager after it was looked for more than an hour when I tried to delete the results of searching for new ROMs - there were many entries.

Doh. I must have missed the fact that edit appears if you click on the app. Thank you

Thank you!

I think we need a way to randomize startup videos

Ok got it...makes sense -

Ah ok but I'd imagine that those that are willing to make things for us will consider what the requirements are. -
I actually like this a bit but agree it may be a little too long. Though, it seems like it could be edited to still work as a shorter clip

Oh that i understand - i mean what does length have to do with picking random videos? I could be missing something : ) but I was thinking more of just the videos that are shared here which should be good. -

I guess I don't understand what you mean by length? Why does that matter? If it's a video shared on here, shouldnt that work well? I mean if all the videos are the right length, then I'd imagine it's ok -

I could very well be simplifying this a ton but the app needs to look for a file saved in a specific location. I would envision something like this... 1) have a folder for start up videos 2) have an option in the app to specify the number of videos in that folder 3) have the videos labeled 1-x 4) use a math random type function to pick a number from 1-x 5) use that number to select the file I don't see how that would cause any performance issues -
I like the one that was released with the update but I also like the ones listed here...would be nice not to have to choose
-
So wondering why it ends up being different for me - how did you get the icon to appear? Both in geforce settings and on the Shield the icon does not show up
-
I ended up moving the videos out of the folder as I wasn't able to figure it out. Thanks though!
-
Yep, I unchecked the second option and only images then are show. Guessing it's a bug

Ok appreciate it!
