  1. Jumping straight in, creating video snaps can be a fun DIY endeavor. My go-to has always been the software Movavi, for its user-friendly interface and various handy features. I found it on a list of free video editing software on this website that you might find useful: https://www.movavi.com/learning-portal/free-video-editing-software-no-watermark.html. Hope this info'll help somebody.
  2. In Big Box mode there's an image stuck on each game menu and game details screen that I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of. Ill post some pictures to see what I'm talking about.
  3. Are you saying that the .ini being pulled would be the same one stored in C:\MAMEui64\ini\mame.ini not from some other location within the Launchbox installation folder?
  4. I finally ditched the libretro cores due to numerous reasons and too many hours of unsuccessful attempts to get MAME running like I would like it. I went ahead and installed MAMEui64 and everything within the ui is running great. The only problem now though is that when I try and load the games through Launchbox, it doesnt load the same .ini file that is in the MAME ini folder. When I load up an arcade game in Launchbox everything is default settings rather than the .ini file that MAMEui starts up. Do I need to set a path for the MAME .ini file for Launchbox? Also, what the custom .ini files that are being used for certain games that I have specific controls setup for?
  5. One other question since we're on the topic of standalone mame. Using retroarch there is a lot of comparability issues on which core to use on many of games in my name library, does standalone mame have this same issue? If I switch to using standalone mame will I have less issues running games?
  6. Thanks for the advice. Ill try a bit more to get it up and running and if it doesnt work Ill try standalone mame. Ive been told to switch to that a number of times but have been a little intimidated using standalone mame.
  7. Im currently using .183. Perhaps ill try libretro_mame out. If that doesnt work I fell that i may have to do a fresh install of retroarch and delte all settings. Im wondering if I may have accidentally changed a setting someplace without knowing. When I stopped working on it months ago I was having some games use content specific settings over the global settings, but this problem I am having was not an issue back then.
  8. Launchbox with Retroarch with MAME2014 Libretro core I took a long break from configuring my arcade machine and recently dived back into it. I am running into a problem that I cannot seem to find an answer to so I thought I would come here to see if someone could help. The issue is that when I load up a game in Launcbox using the MAME2014 core, the global buttons are not being used by default, instead the buttons for the specific machine that I load are the ones being used. However, this is obviously very inconvenient because every time I fire up a game I have to go in and change each machines buttons configs through the quick menu screen within mame. Is there a setting that allows for all machine settings to be overwriting global settings?
  9. just realized this function is within Retroarch not mame. Solved. Insert face palm here.
  10. Im trying to assign all of my buttons on my ipac4 within mame. The player 2 joystick down command is registered as key F. The problem is that within mame the F button is the full screen/window mode command. Is there a way to disable this within mame somewhere so that I can use the F button as my down button for player 2? Pressing tab to quick menu does not seem to show this at all.
  11. I am using MAME version .186 with the .183 merged rom pack. However, every libretro MAME and FBA core that I tested against these particular roms also did not work either. I am currently downloading the latest .186 split rom pack now. Perhaps that will work.
  12. @DOS76 Even after downloading standalone MAME I am having a similar issue. It works for a number of games just like when Retroarch was my default emulator in Launchbox, but it still seems to have an issue with several others. When I try to load up a number of games, all of which I have the rom files for, MAME it gives me the error of, "The selected machine is missing one or more required ROM or CHD images. Please select a different machine." This occurs even for games that do not require a CHD file. Would you think that a split rom pack would keep this issue from occurring?
  13. Is the issue that I am experiencing due to having a merged rom pack? More specifically is retroarch/mame only opening the zip folder of the game and then just simply stopping rather than knowing which of the several versions to select?
  14. It sounds that I am I gonna have to move away from the libretro cores and over to standalone MAME if I want any success. I went with the libretro cores because I have found MAME pretty intimidating. I'm worried the customization I'm looking to achieve for my arcade cabinet won't be as good with MAME as what the libretro cores have been able to provide. It's incredible how many hours one can spend trying to get things setup exactly how they want. I just want to get it customized to how I want so that everything runs fluidly and disable it from the internet forever.
  15. I am trying to run my CPS2 games from my .183 mame romset but when I try and fire it up through Launchbox or Retroarch it begins to load but then initially crashes. Ive tried to test this on several different cores including various versions of mame as well as fbalpha. I cannot seem to find a solution online through searching so I thought maybe the community would have an answer.
  16. Excellent work!! The only thing I wish it had was a Williams Classics and Atari Classics bezel
  17. I suspected it was hiding the platforms due to their not being games added. I'll try typing in the drop-down field this evening. Thanks for the feedback!
  18. Before doing this wouldn't I need to first create a platform before running the bulk edit wizard so that it has a desired platform to be moved to? And if that is the case, why is that when I add a new platform it does not show up in the left panel in Launchbox but it does show up under manage emulators? And it seems that because it is not showing up in the left panel that when I try and run the bulk edit wizard, choose Platform under the Field drop down menu, the newly added Platform does not show up under the Value dropdown menu.
  19. I must of spent 2 weeks trying to find out why I couldnt get these overlays to work how I wanted. Several posters gave me the easiest instructions and it just wouldn't work. I'd like to see an easier way of turning playlists into systems for this specific reason. I've just started with merging playlists into platforms but I don't have much hope the process is going to go smoothly.
  20. I may be wrong but in order to do system specific overlays for various arcade systems you have to make each system it's own platform. I was unable to take a playlist like CPS1, CPS2, Midway Classics, etc and give each playlist it's own specific overlays in Retroarch. It wasn't until I made a one of my system playlists into its own platform that giving it a specific overlay finally worked.
  21. Yea my issue is not using overlay between different cores but using different overlays for different arcade systems like Konami Classics, Midway Games, CPS1, CPS2, etc while using the mame_libretro core for all of my rom files. I can easily just use a MAME overlay for all of my games but I would like to get a little more specific with things.
  22. I actually didnt notice the Capcom Classics until you said something, but I cannot imagine that would make a difference here. CPS3 doesnt have a config file due to the fact that I just have been focusing on CPS1 and CPS2. I will go back to using only the MAME cores since I am using a MAME romset, but I just cannot figure out why different Arcade systems, using one MAME romset, cannot load their own custom config files using even the MAME core. The only thing I could think of is if I was to add system specific overlays as a per game config because configs per game seem to have no issue being created and running at all.
  23. I originally tried just using the MAME core for all of my games and then breaking up systems with just simply custom config files so that the specific overlay would be activated based on which game was being played. The problem with this method is that it would only load the mame_libretro.cfg file that I had being used under Platform Arcade within Launchbox. For example, my Arcade platforms parameter was using mame_libretro.cfg but CPS1 would be using mame_libretro_cps1.cfg. Unfortunately, when I would load a CPS1 game it continues to load the mame_libretro.cfg. This would also occur under any other game with a custom config file. All the games run great but having system specific overlays seems to be out of the question.
  24. Here are pics of my core and config files as well. From all the tutorials I have watched on how to get this setup, it is pretty straight forward. I am wondering if it is something very minor that I am just missing. Thanks for taking a look.
  25. So this has been driving me crazy for way too long. All i want is for my various arcade systems to display their system specific overlays when running a rom. I want my CPS1 one games to use the CPS1 overlay, the CPS2 games to use the CPS2 overlay, the Konami classics to use their Konami Classics overlay, etc. Ill try to explain what I have done but maybe I am doing something wrong that is keeping this from working. I load up launchbox and click on manage emulators. First off I do have an "Arcade" category that covers all of my games. This is using the mame_libretro core. My parameters for this Associated Platform are: -L "cores\mame_libretro -c "config\mame_libretro.cfg" with the default box checked. This works all fine and great and I can use the MAME overlay and shaders with no problem. When I create an Associated Platform Capcom Play System with the Default Command Line Parameters set to -L "cores\fbalpha2012_cps1_libretro.dll" -c "config\fbalpha2012_cps1_libretro.cfg" with the Default Emulator box checked Launchbox continues to open Retroarch with the mame-libretro core. This also happens no matter what order I change in the Default Emulator boxes between the mame core and the fbalpha 2012 cps1 core. Also, I get the same outcome when I setup the CPS2 and CPS3 cores. The only way I can get Retroarch to fire up if I select to play a cps1 game is if I change the Default Line Parameters for Arcade under the Associated Platform column in the Manage Emulators menu to the fb alpha parameters. Another thing that I find weird is that if I open retroarch, load up a core, and then load the config file for that core the application closes down. Not sure if this is normal. I would love any help, if possible. I tried to include as much information as I could in this post to help further a solution. The only thing that I have not tried is deleting all of my games within Launchbox and then re-importing each platform individually and setting up their parameters, rather than importing them all as just a general Arcade category using one MAME core to run them all.
