Having a viewable banner is better than having no banner at all Shinra, Originally my Bigflix theme was supposed to have steam banner support in one of the views but I scrapped the idea since there isn't enough contents for other platforms to warrant a banners view.

While I agree with you that there are lazy submissions on that website atleast it's a good start and we can gradually build our database from there.

It would be nice if LB could auto generate artwork like aeon nox in Kodi does, eg for banners it would use a portion of the fanart with text over the top. LB could use a screenshot, since all games have these available, and the font of the system. This could be also used to generate missing covers etc - Ive seen a few of these in the db.

    Eg:

    Screenshot_2018-02-11-11-28-42-437_com.android.chrome.png

Here is how the banners look in Kodi. Granted it it using game logos for text, but I guess there could be a priority system in place eg if no logo available then use text

I will probably add separate page up and page down and zoom controls yet, yes. I will also be adding an option to disable the built-in PDF reader so you can use your existing solution, but I won't be adding a specific option to use Sumatra.

Can you please add an option to select a pdf viewer executable so it's possible for LB not to use the windows default pdf viewer (the way it previously worked)? That way I can use a light viewer for LB and and full featured viewer/editor out outside of LB.

While it would be great to have a pdf reader built into LB, it's possible to have this feature via an external program. I'd personally like to see the dev time spent elsewhere, like on the new 3d engine Ive heard rumoured on the forums ?

Yeah, platform metadata. I updated all my systems last week and it didn't update it. I'll try updating a single platform and see how it goes.

Is it possible to download media and metadata for only one platform? When I try "Tools > Download Metadata and Media" with a platorm selected it downloads data for all platforms.

I had a closer look at the platform metadata and while it might have added some data, there is still quite a bit missing for platforms that have info in the DB - "notes" in particular for multiple platforms and SNK Neo Geo CD is missing everything.

EDIT I tried with all the games selected in one platform, and while it does update metadata only for that platform, it didnt update any data for the SNK Neo Geo CD platform

Do you mean platforms metadata? I *think* it will already do this if you just Download Metadata and Media for that platform.

Yeah, platform metadata. I updated all my systems last week and it didn't update it. I'll try updating a single platform and see how it goes.

is there meant to be some visual feedback when setting the rating in BB? All I see is 5 solid stars, so its not possible to see what I'm setting. Setting the rating via a controller felt strange too, like only one direction worked? (I get that feeling because only one direction would give audio feedback, the others were silent.

Seems like the lack of visual feedback is a product of the strange numbers in the community rating - if I add a rating for a game with no rating the visual feedback works as expected

    Hi Jason,

Still getting strange community ratings with b10. Also, is there meant to be some visual feedback when setting the rating in BB? All I see is 5 solid stars, so its not possible to see what I'm setting. Setting the rating via a controller felt strange too, like only one direction worked? (I get that feeling because only one direction would give audio feedback, the others were silent.

One other thing, does anyone know what the numbers next to retro achievements stand for?

  9. Hi,

As per the title, LB crashes when launching Dolphin with a WiiWare rom. I've had this issue previously with Dolphin + Wii roms, but worked around this bug by enabling the "Attempt to hide console window on startup/shutdown" option in the "Manage Emulators" window. Enabling and disabling this option has no effect on the crashing, it happens either way.

When LB does crash, all I get is the windows popup "LaunchBox has stopped working....". This happens in either LB or BB.

LB7.15-b4, Win10x64, Dolphin 5.0-5800, crash is present whether I launch the game via Dolphin directly or via RocketLauncher, 43 systems installed with this crash only present with Dolphin.

I've had a poke around for a LB log file to see if it could shed some light on this, but couldnt find one. Does anyone know if LB has a log file, and if so, where is it kept?

@Jason Carr or anyone else, any suggestions on how to track down what is causing LB to crash?

    Thanks

  10. Hi,

I have noticed that metadata has been added for all platforms in the LB database, which is great news - thanks! :)

But how do I update my LB install to display this new info? I dont see any option to update platform data when updating game data. I also tried manually editing one of the platform xml files, though this didnt work (plus updating, and keeping up to date, each platform is tedious). Just to be clear, Im talking about data fields such as release date, cpu, media, etc and not artwork.

    Thanks

  11. Best solution I have found to hide windows is to replace the shell with something else. Stops windows from getting in the way of things. I replace it with eventghost because I boot into Kodi, but you can use LB or any other program you like. You can easily switch back to using the windows shell if you need to. There's loads of how to's on the net.

  12. Hi,

I've seen that in the db info has been added for all platforms (and you can now edit them too :)) which is great.

I'm trying to update my LB so it can display this added info, but running and update doesnt seem to update platform metadata? Not sure if I'm missing something..

So can anyone shed some light on how to update platform metadata from the db?

    Thanks

the ability to edit system info has been there for a while now, click on the system you want and then go to the details tab, the edit icon will be hidden at the end of the line

Is that in the lb db or the lb app?

I had a look at the database after posting this and its had info populated  for most (all?) systems?.. now I need to get my lb to pull the updated info.
