  1. Is this for a dedicated cabinet? You could always just upgrade the CPU, RAM, and MOBO. Anything wrong with your existing case, PSU, and OS?
  2. It's more of a time thing than money. I want to get this cabinet done already. Spent a crap load of time eliminating over 100,000 files from when I thought I 'needed' a complete MAME rom set with all accompanying artwork. Stripped MAME down to 195 roms! Don't want to finish this project so I can enjoy it more. Once its done its done... Nothing to upgrade or change. Also just started taking a pinball machine apart for cleaning and replacing all the rubbers... a process that will take way longer than I anticipated. And other hobbies and projects as well.
  3. Continuing from above... I have never used Win10 before (still running 7 on my main PC)... so I could use suggestions on the telemetry software... watching some youtube videos as we speak... Looking at 'Destroying Windows 10 Spying 2.2' ... Saw another for 'Spybot Anti-Beacon'
  4. I checked that out... he said he had about 350 into that not counting some parts he already had. If you would add everything he did purchase like the case, PSU, HDD, Windows 10 then he's probably close to the i7 NUC price... which I assume will run just as good. And the most important part... I don't have to do anything. I've probably built every computer I've had for the last 20 years but honestly I don't want to be bothered with this... the build, installing windows etc. I have too many other projects going on at the moment and just want this cabinet done. I just want to start it up... install some telemetry blocking software (even though I may not even run the wifi) and get my cabinet running fully ... clone the HDD and never have to worry about it again. I appreciate the suggestion though.
  5. Just checked my cabinet now. I was assuming I had 8GB of ram in it but I was mistaken. I'm currently running an i5 with 4GB and it runs everything I mentioned with zero problems. So, not sure how far I will go with this now... I can get a NUC with the same specs and 1TB hard space for for $520... stepping up to an i7 with 8GB and 2TB is $675
  6. Well, I was actually considering one of the i7's but thought that would be excessive overkill. Those little NUC's get expensive in the i7 16GB ram level... at that price point I might be able to just get a new mobo, cpu and ram for the existing desktop I have inside that would be more powerful and cheaper... Guess I have to decide how important that smaller form factor is.
  7. Most likely... I'm definitely the type that would rather overkill a little. If I would go the 16GB I'd probably have to do an upgrade. I don't think I saw any i5's with more than 8 pre-built.
  8. Well, that is kind of the answer I was looking for... specs... processor and ram specifically. I was thinking i5 8 meg minimum... I'm thinking this should be more than adequate... This is a dedicated cabinet so it wont need to run any more than I mentioned.
  9. Hey, Not a noob here but didn't really know where to post this. Thinking about getting rid of the desktop PC in my cab... anyone running their setup with an Intel NUC? I was considering one of these... really like the small form factor. Trying to decide how powerful to go if I do... basically need to run MAME, C64, ScummVM, Daphne, and maybe a few consoles. Anyone have any experience with this things?
  10. Disregard.... it's been awhile. Didn't realize I had to highlight all of the games.... they're coming in now.
  11. Hmmm.... well this can be slightly more difficult than I thought to delete my videos and stuff... wasn't thinking that LB names this files like the game instead of the rom like Hyperspin does. My method depended on this naming structure. So, I figured since I whittled the entire mame collection down to 195 roms worth keeping.... I can just re-download the videos since its not that many. For some reason its not working.... my connection to emumovies is good. But when I go to download metadata and media... I selected 'Video -HD Gameplay' and 'Video-Theme'.... it only downloaded one theme video out of all my roms.... Selected 'Yes, but do not replace any existing fields or media' Tried twice... any thoughts?
  12. Gotcha... I guess I forgot about that. I actually may have some for PC format. All my focus has been on MAME and C64 lately as these will be 95% of my use. As for deleting existing artwork and videos if LB can't do... if anyone needs any info how to do this quickly I'll get some instructions posted here.
  13. I haven't seen cue and bin files in about 15 years... didn't even know that was a thing anymore? Definitely not a thing for any of the emulators I will use this feature for so I'm good :-) As for the CHD's I wont be using many of these either so no big deal.
  14. No problem.... I have a batch file set up that makes this a snap. I'll finish off the rom list and will be able to clean out the artwork in less than 10 minutes. And no... I already had that box checked in LB.... but saw no way to do in BB. Thanks again!
  15. Thank you!! Ha! I KNEW I saw how to do this before... problem was I was trying to do this from BigBox instead of Launchbox!
  16. Even if I could just delete the ROM from within LB deleting the media would be simple enough. Or even just have the rom name display when in the game menu so I know exactly which one it is using to make sure I delete the correct one.
  17. So, I got away from this project of transitioning from Hyperspin to Launchbox about a year ago... some other projects came up. <sarcasm>It's always fun to try and remember what 1000 settings mean that you haven't used in that amount of time</sarcasm>... fortunately LB/BB is much more intuitive than HS. Anyway... I may be mistaken but I seem to recall some talk about deleting games and media. I'm not the type to want 1000's of roms and media I will never use. I started trimming this down before (sort of manually) and would like to finish. While going through and playing games in MAME and finding one I don't want is there an option to somehow delete the rom and media automatically? If not I have a method with a batch file I can use that takes a little more time but not the end of the world. I have my MAME roms whittled down to 916 roms.... most likely will get that down to 300 or less. So if there is any way to automate this with LB......
  18. Ha... I thought was nice as well... just trying things to learn to use the software. Figured out how to make that border nice and black a lot easier.
  19. I didn't see anything better to download... I cleaned it up a little for you...
  20. How does this look... the original was the highest res I could find on line but it was photo taken at an angle with a beat up box.... Which one do you think is better?
  21. How do I edit or make submissions on the platform level... for example the C64 pic is pretty low res and crappy. I have the exact same pic but hi-res... don't see any options for uploads for that.
  22. Hey, no problem... glad to be able to give a little back to the community
  23. Thanks, spycat. I registered and sent up a few images to get started. After I get everything uploaded is there a specific thread I should post a full list just to inform people in case they want to upgrade?
  24. Cool, will do, Zombeaver. I'll probably wait till the weekend. Hopefully I'll have close to a 150+ images to send up by then.
  25. I'm cleaning up my Commodore 64 box art. Not exactly my specialty but definitely looks better than whats out there. Here are a couple comparisons of boxes I've downloaded and fixed. (Castle Wolfenstein and Labyrinth) The Castles of Dr. Creep is my own scan. I also have a lot of C64 art and manuals that I've scanned myself from nice mint boxes and manuals. As well as some random hi-res fanart I've acquired over the years. Should I upload this stuff here? Anyone here interested in this... is this the right thread?
