I am also facing same problem . can anyone help  to fix it?

I fixed it by going to add/remove programs and uninstalling the visual c++ that had 2015 in the name. There was two of them. Then let the installer install the older version of visual c++ . This is the problem. The installer needs and older version. The reason this is an issue.

Sounds like the OS isn't correctly telling the installer what you have installed. I've seen it in the past with some of the other runtimes, but not that one. Typically what users need to do is remove it from Add/Edit programs then restart the computer and run the install again. Alternatively you could try to run command promt as admin and run the command "sfc /scannow" (without quotes) and let that run and have Windows try to repair itself. If it finds anything I'd restart your computer before running the install again.

While i get what your saying cant you remove the forced install of it to update in future? I mean its not fair your paying customers have to troubleshoot like this because of a decision you made. That's a lot of effort to simply install an update and may not even fix the issue in a lot of cases (had issues with Visual Studio previously). Also i figured it out the installer looks for Visual C++ 2015-2019 which it force installs. However if you have the newer update 2015-2022 like i did it doesn't work it specifically searches for the 2015-2019 Visual C++.

  3. Launchbox updates (via app or manually) will no longer install as its saying it need the Visual C++ Redistributable 2015. However I already have this installed so it gives an error when i try to install it saying as much. I cannot therefore install as the installer does not allow you to go further in install until i thinks i have this. Please can this be fixed??

Yes, that's probably the case. The other option you have is to just download the license file (it should be attached to that email you received). Then you can copy it over to the device and put it in the root of your LaunchBox folder. We provide three different options in that email in case something doesn't work.

OMG it was attached to the email.. Sorry for not noticing that. Thats perfect.

Yeah, it does look like it's just running out of memory. Less systems and fewer games could help the issue, but it's not guaranteed.

From what I'm hearing, it does sound like it's worth upgrading to Android 8. Android 6 is ancient at this point, so I don't even have an Android 6 device to test with currently.

Yeah deffo a ram issue as LineageOS frees up a lot more RAM. Not better for emulation but deffo better for launchbox.

Dont open it in your browser when it asks, as i said, you need to tell Android to open it in Launchbox, if that still doesnt work i suggest using the link i posted and getting it resent.

I did on my device using the devices browser and it didnt work. I am assuming it may be a fault with the retroid pocket 2s browser now. Will try chrome if i get around to it.

Good point. Unfortunately though, because of how the Android devices are structured, I don't have any way of automatically pointing from one storage device to another. What you can do though is just copy your ROMs over where you want them, and then run the import on the device.

Yeah I am doing that lol. Would maybe be good if there was a way to export games with correct file names for easy import if doing manually? Some have weird file names that I obviously changed inside launchbox.

You open the email on the devicem you installed Launchbox too, you then press the button in the email and Android will ask what you want to open it with, Choose Launchbox, and Just Once.

Also, you can use the below link if you lose your license.

Lost Your LaunchBox Premium or LaunchBox for Android License? (launchbox-app.com)

I opened it on my device and it took me to a web page the page you requested was not found.

Hope these help. I had a quick scan of the logs, and it does seem to be showing out of memory error messages.

Do you think if I prune things back even further (less systems and even fewer games) that it might get around this problem?

I'm still on the original Android 6 that it came with. I thought about changing to 8, or even LineageOS, but there are way too many reports of units being bricked, and on the ones where it has worked the Android interface seems to be a bit faster, but not the emulation. Given the risks and the fact the games emulation wasn't any better there seemed little point in doing it.

Okay so i got my RP2 now and updated to LineageOS (its super easy and took minutes from a video on youtube from Retro game Corps). I'm pleased to say Launchbox runs great on it. There is a little slow down on box art not loading instantly but its snappy and goes through selections at near full speed. Still using demo right now but going to buy it based on this.

  10. I have read on the reddit page recently 8.1 or lineage OS (which is 8.1 also) handles it a lot better in terms of speed. I should have had mine delivered Monday but its not arrived so cannot test this but soon as it arrives I will try.

  11. I exported to android and most copied fine however games with multiple discs like skys of arcadia and final fantasy games only copied 1 cd of the game. Don't know if this is a bug or intentional but i manually copied over the files. Its also happening with other games that require multiple files like psx games with multiple .bin files though I can see why that would happen as launchbox probably doesnt realise there is multiple bin files and its why i actually checked.

Or for a more opensource alternative, I myself copy the youtube url and open it with MPC-BE (videoplayer). It can play and download youtube video's (also 4k). Then I cut a 1 min. video of that using MKVtoolnix because thats what I allready have installed. While on the subject I want to add I have a lifetime membership of Emumovies, but it's quite frustrating they concentrate on older systems. With a name like Emumovies and a membershipfee I really expect them to put in a little more effort.

    *Edit*

While the post I reacted to just got deleted and it seems I necroed and old thread, I just want to point out you can download youtube video's with software you may already have installed.

100% agree with this I would expect a free site to have slow content upgrade but this we pay for. Sites like https://screenscraper.fr/ have way more content already and are much newer but the support for it isnt great and without launchbox interaction we cannot really use it unless we manually download 1 by 1.

Glad to hear that we've got this solved for at least most of you guys. Huge thanks to @C-Beats for finding the solution on the web, and thanks for bearing with us.

This is unfortunate, but no, we cannot "patch" or fix this issue for future updates, as it's not our issue. Please see here:

    https://github.com/dotnet/wpf/issues/2493

Keep in mind that even Microsoft Office is affected by this issue, from what I've read. It's an issue with Sonic Studio being poorly developed and improperly interfering with .NET Core. Microsoft's "solution", per the link above is to reach out to these companies and report their issues to them, apparently.

Ah that sucks I figured that would be the case. I can just close it when using Launchbox or BigBox for now. Least we figured it out in the end :).

Been looking around and I found there is a known issue with a certain DLL that is used by several third party software that is known to cause issue with WPF rendering in Net Core applications. Do any of you have Sonic Suite installed? Or if you open up Task Manager do you see a "NahimicOSD" listed in Processes or Services tab? Realtek also utilizes this DLL.

I reinstalled windows to try fix this problem and it was fine when i first installed working perfectly, and low and behold it came back. Prior to windows I did have sonic suite installed and not this time.  This time however I had Sonic Studio. Once I closed it however I had Zero issues. That's not really a fix however as i use the app to monitor my computer temperatures and fan speeds.  Is this going to be patched in future updates?

BTW Sonic Studio does not use the process listed in this thread. Its not listed for me and probably as I dont have Sonic Suite installed this time (funnily enough I couldnt install it as my system thinks its installed and just reboots my computer everytime i try to install it)
