  1. I think the issue might have to do with my library size. I can select to only download from a certain platform category and it works. But when I select all of my games it brushes over every game and crashes. I am currently downloading just for 2 player arcade games and it seems to be working. But It would be SUPER convenient if downloading for all my games worked.

Do you get any error when it crashes or does LB just shutdown?

Do you have logs turned on in your LB tools settings?

I don't get any error, it just freezes and windows shuts it down when i choose to stop waiting, I'll turn on logs and go through the download process again. What I want to do is get video clips for my games in big box, instead it just shows the title screen. I am also paying for emumovies pro.

  3. I want to update my metadata and only checked the stuff from emu movies for download. It takes a few minutes then sends back an error for a handful of videos that couldn't be downloaded. After selecting to keep the metadata despite the errors it goes through the "finishing up" process and windows detects that it isn't responding. Do I just have to wait a really long time for it to finish up and ignore the windows prompt or am I doing something wrong?

You don't have to do it every time. Should be a one and done. You do need to do it anytime you use the Theme downloader though since it puts them in the root Themes folder and not the Core themes folder though.

The reason it was implemented the way it was is because it works fine for the vast majority of users, and without the implement we would have had broken installs on literally everyone's install. exFAT isn't heavily used anymore, NTFS is the de facto format at this point and so we put in a solution for those users, and tried to find the simplest work around for those on exFAT who aren't willing to reformat to the standard format.

Ok, do you know if this is going to be permanent? Because if there's no way for it to be patched I'll probably just go through the steps of reformatting however that's done without losing everything.

Yeah. I thought that may be the case. The issue is because the drive is formatted exFAT and not NTFS. To get themes to work properly you will need to copy the Themes folder from \\Launchbox\ to \\LaunchBox\Core and then update that folder whenever you install a new theme. It isn't the best work around but exFAT doesn't allow us to build the symlinks LaunchBox uses and so is the best we have come up with thus far.

Ok so it turns out that I have to do this EVERY TIME I boot launchbox. This is extremely annoying!! Now I'm no dev, but why was this implemented if it only works on some systems?

  6. When importing my Mame fullset I chose to create platform category playlists. When I click on Sega Model 2 there's only Virtua Fighter 2, Motor Raid Twin, and Rail Chase 2. I then used the search feature to see if things like daytona didn't make the playlist but nope. All the other model 2 games didn't get imported. What causes this and how do I fix it? are there more games in my romset that got left out too?

Ok I did that and it works! I still have a few launchbox issues, but I'll address those in a new thread. Thank you so much for your help!

And to add to @neil9000, this is usually some type of theme error.  Your error message is alluding to an issue with the Unified Redux theme on your system, and it's pointing to:

    G:\LaunchBox\Core\Themes\Unified Redux

See what happens if you remove/rename the Unified Redux folder in that location, along with:

    G:\LaunchBox\Themes\Unified Redux

Ok I tried that and nothing seemed to happen

  9. I wanted to redo my Mame build in launchbox, upgrading from merged, to split. In doing so I unchecked every box like I did last year with the merged set. It turns out that it imported a bunch of hardware files that aren't games and don't have metadata (see photo). I want to get rid of these but deleting and re importing would take more than a day. If there's any solution to this please let me know. Thank you

Ditch the Bin/Lst files. That method if pretty much no longer recommended. The preferred method is using the Mame Roms. When you import other Arcade platforms such as Atomiswave, SNK Neo Geo, CPS1, and so on set the scrape as option the "Arcade".

So I just have to use .zips now?

  11. I've followed everything from the Naomi/Atomiswave video and launchbox won't import any other games besides Sushi Bar and the KoF games. I have all of the lst and bin files and I don't know what is happening here. If any one has a fix that would be greatly appreciated.

  12. Is there a way to use BigBox to play a real DVD or BluRay? Like, open up windows DVD player or VLC as a game, pop in a disc, watch it, then exit back to BigBox. I know people can watch mp4 rips of movies, but watching stuff from my collection on my arcade machine would be pretty cool and convenient for the man cave.
