  1. Hate to dig up an old Post

    I just recently upgraded to launchbox version 12.1 along with the latest ledblinky version 8.1 and I am still getting the same IO errors as indicated above. I get the IO errors when scrolling through the (text only) game list using the default theme by just holding down on the joystick.  Any other ideas on what could be causing this problem with newer versions of bigbox?

  2. I decided to try rolling back to version 11.9 and everything is working fine again.  No errors are being generated by ledblinky anymore. 

    One key difference between 11.9 and 11.15 is in 11.9 i would hear a sound in bigbox for every game I passed while scrolling through the game list regardless if I was holding the joystick down/up or pressing down/up individually. In 11.15 i do not hear a sound when holding down the joystick and scrolling through the games list, instead I would only hear a sound when advancing to the next game in the list when moving slowly a single key at a time.

    No, i am not using "Demo Game Controls"  The only option i have checked under the launchbox tab is "Light launchbox controls".

    I was able to repeat the IO error by just holding down the joystick and letting it scroll through the games list for a minute in Bigbox and when exiting out of Bigbox I found this error had popped up multiple times:

    I have only an i3, but using the Unified Redux theme I don't have any issues, maybe give that a try.

    What are the I/O errors you get in LEDBLinky? You shouldn't be having any I/O errors and sounds suspicious.  

    Scrolling through my list of games by holding the joystick down just slows it down to a crawl in bigbox 11.15 with Ledblinky integration turned on.  This happens in all the themes I have tried in bigbox and it is specific to versions newer than 11.9.  I also turned on the debug log in ledblinky and noticed that every game i scroll through is getting logged as game selected even when i am not selecting the game to play (see snipit from debug.log below). I never noticed ledblinky debug files selecting every game as I scroll through the games list in previous versions of bigbox but maybe I am wrong.

  5. Hello

    Recently I upgraded Bigbox from version 11.9 to version 11.15 and noticed I started getting IO errors associated with LEDblinky and severe performance problems when scrolling quickly through my list of arcade games in bigbox. I then upgraded ledblinky to the lastest version on the website which helped with the IO errors (did not get rid of them completely) but I was still having  performance problems when scrolling through my list of games. After a bit of investigation I tried turning off ledblinky integration in Bigbox/launchbox and now scrolling through my games list is as smooth when I was on launchbox version 11.9. As soon as I reenable LEdblinky the performance problems with scrolling through my list of games in bigbox returns. Does anybody else see this performance hit when LEDblinky is enabled in Bigbox?

    Please note this happens with both the default theme and unified refried theme. I also do not have the games detail page enabled.

    System specs:

    I7 9700K, 32GB of ram, RX 580 graphics card, 1TB 970 EVO NVME, Windows 10

    Unsure of a workaround, but there were some fixes in LB since 11.9 that helped issues with additional apps. So not sure what kind of license you have, but if you are able to update I would recommend trying the latest stable version.

    @twobucksI had swapped motherboards on my PC with working FreeCamMod setup but then after I was having similar issues. At the time I just assumed I messed something up even though had backups with the exact same setup.  I was only using FreeCamMod for the single table launch feature so tried an alternative tool since couldn't get it back to working status. If that is case for you, you might want to look at this tool: "Pinball Arcade Loader".  If do google search should be the first entry.  That seemed to fix my issues with screen focus (even though it did work).  Also it fixed some minor issues I always had with FreeCamMod where it would sometimes not launch to table on the very first instance as well as just a complete clean launch into the table. FreeCam seemed to stop at the main screen briefly and move the mouse around then launch (which may be the issue with the screen focus).  

    So if only using the single table feature here is my setup with Pinball Arcade Loader:

    The key with Launchbox is you need to point to the PinballArcadeLoder.exe as the "emulator" but also have in the Default Command-Line Parameters the full path to your PinballArcade11.exe.  The launcher will then take whatever "ROM" (text file pointer) and launch from that.

    Here is my dummy text pointer to ACDC. Similar to FreeCam the names of the pointers are specific to each game. The "HIDE TEXT" command tells Pinball Arcade to not bring up the intro text, if you want that just leave only the game name pointers.  You can do via CMD batch files but I always find it easier and LB seems happier (with Pause Screen) if keep direct to the launcher exe.  Make sure you have the "Don't Use Quotes" and the "Use File Name Only" check boxes checked in the emulator screen if using the pointer text file method.

    I have attached my pointer text files for reference so you don't have to hunt down the table names that the launcher wants to see.

    Thanks,  This launcher works much better than FreeCamMOD.  I was able to at least run the game in fullscreen exclusive mode which makes launching tables much more reliable. freeCamMod you must run in windowed fullscreen mode which is way more problematic.

I am currently running launchbox version 11.9 but after upgrading from version 10.xx some time ago I noticed that if I make a manual edit to a games existing "additional apps" or make a new "additional app" they sometimes stop working or do not work at all.  Long story short, if I have a games "additional app" pointing to launch a windows shortcut for an exe or bat file, it seems launchbox version 11.9 will not always reliably launch it. This was not a problem in launchbox version 10.xx and you could reliably launch a games "additional app" using a shortcut to a exe or bat file.  If I launch an "additional app" pointing directly to the EXE or batch file then it seems to work properly in version 11.9

    Has anybody else noticed this issue or knows of a workaround?

I have single table launch working in launchbox using FreeCamMod but when using Bigbox most times the game gets minimized to the task bar and even alt tab will not bring the window into focus.  Does anybody have a script to bring the pinball Arcade into focus when using Bigbox? I am not using any startup screens and still have the same problem.

    BTW, having same issue.  2 lightgun, mame, m2 emulator , 2 screens and calibration is not working if i keep the second monitor up!

      When I setup the m2 emulator I disabled my second monitor before starting the game for the first time and then did the in game gun calibration.  After you finish the in game gun calibration save it and exit out of the game.  Then you can reenable the second monitor and try running it from launchbox/bigbox.  You also need to make sure you are not running in windowed mode for the model 2 emulator. 

    **make sure the video aspect ratio is the same across all your emulators or you will need to recalibrate the aimtrak each time you switch between aspect ratios.

    For disabling the marquee monitor using display fusion you will need create two batch files and add them to additional apps for each game that applies

    First thing you need to do is open display fusion monitor configuration and create two new profiles.  On the first profile with everything at defaults and both monitors enabled save the profile name as "monitors enabled", then disable your marquee monitor using display fusion and create a second profile named "monitors disabled"

    for the first batch file add the following:

    DisplayFusionCommand.exe -windowpositionprofilesave "gungame"
    DisplayFusionCommand.exe -monitorloadprofile "monitors disabled"

    Save this as a batch file in the display fusion installation folder and add as an additional app to the game with options check "automatically run before main application", and "wait for exit" 

    for the second batch file add the following:

    DisplayFusionCommand.exe -monitorloadprofile "monitors enabled"
    DisplayFusionCommand.exe -windowpositionprofileload "gungame"

    Save this as a batch file in the display fusion installation folder and add as an additional app to the game with option check "automatically run after main application.

    **you may get prompted from display fusion when the game starts/exits.  If this happens you can disable this prompt in the advanced options in display fusion.

    1 Disable Overwirte confirmation prompt under (window position profiles)

    2 Dont show confirmation prompt under (monitor configuration)

    3 disable prompt when restoring settings (general)

    This utility has been a game changer for me. no more screwing with x360ce and joy2key or ipac toggling.  i have my ipac set as keyboard only, then i enable/disable this utility with an AHK script in launchbox.  it maps all of my controller buttons to the same exact virtual joystick for all steam games, but you can create game-specific ones too!

     

    Just wondering if you have found any games that do not work using Keyboard2Xinput?  I have been using UCR for a couple years but i have found it to not work sometimes, or some games will work at launch but then have issues during gameplay! This program looks like a much better solution then UCR and Vjoy

I am upgrading my launchbox windows PC to a new build and wanted to know the best way to move launchbox 11.2 onto a new PC?  I was thinking I would install the same version of launchbox on the target PC and just copy the entire launchbox folder over to the new PC. All my emulators, games, and roms (not in the launchbox folder) were copied exactly the same onto the new computer maintaining the same file paths. Does anybody with experience see any issues with this?

    I want to make sure all my custom themes, settings, images, etc are maintained exactly the way i have it setup on the old PC.

    I had to use the TypeXtra emulator for getting Arcana Heart 3 love Max!! working.  This will give you the settings i used to get keyboard controls working for that game. hopefully this helps

     

     

  15. I think pinball is probably left to a virtual pinball cab so I've skipped those for now.

    I hear you on this and a virtual pin cab would be a much better experience but i have found we still go back to playing Pinball a lot on my Arcade cabinet.  If you have the flipper buttons and nudge buttons drilled into the sides of the cabinet it works pretty well. I rigged up and old car alarm shock sensor for center nudge as an input on my ipac! instead of having the tables oriented in portrait mode i have them in desktop mode with the backglass displaying on the 2nd marquee screen (static image). If i had a dedicated pincab i would for sure prefer that setup but this is a good substitute for now.

    I would be willing to help but i am nowhere near you.  Just out of curiosity how much is left to do?  If the hardware is all wired up to the IPAC and connected to the computer, maybe someone can to do the work for you remotely to get it up and running.

If you have the CRT and it still is working for you then keep it.  When i built my cabinet two years ago now i went with a 27" 1440p freesync monitor and have been very happy with the results since i did want to play modern widescreen games along with the classics. Using shaders and bezels in mame really is a must but the freesync and low input lag do make a difference. I would stick to the crt especially if your using lightguns. I did get lightguns working with my monitor but you need to stand in the same spot every time to keep good accuracy.

I have about a 100 pinball arcade tables that i need to add four "additional apps" for each table.  Is there any easier way to do this than to manually go and edit each table to add the additional apps?  It would be so much easier if there was a way to add all four of the same "additional apps" in bulk to all the roms i selected or if there was a way to have additional app favorites.  Anybody have any tips or shortcuts i can use?

I just recently updated my graphics driver for my amd RX 570 from 18.4.1 to the most recent recommended driver from amd 20.2.2 and now performance for the sega model 2 emulator is terrible and glitchy. Anybody here using an amd video card and have a recommendation for a good driver version that performs well with sega model 2 emulator 1.1a (multicpu exe)?

    yeah, if your having a problem with a single monitor and cannot get it calibrated properly then you need to get that sorted first.  I did have a problem with one of the camera's in my gun at one point and andy sent me a replacement.  I would contact andy from ultimarc and see if he can help you on calibration for a single monitor in windows 10. A single monitor in windows 10 shouldn't be problematic.  I will say that where you place the sensor bar does make a difference and you must stand at the same distance from the screen for it to stay calibrated.

    Yes, in fullscreen exclusive mode (not windowed borderless).  I am using bgfx in my mame.ini config and this already assumes your guns work fine in mame on a single screen. you can also get a free trial of display fusion to try it out.
