Avira Antivirus software blocks the update process silently and cause it to fail. People may need to disable their AV temporarily. Just a heads up for yourself and others. Quote

Anti-virus software is a virus in itself. I would recommend using Microsoft Security Essentials (free I believe with Windows), though I haven't used it in a long while. Quote
