Iceman
First off, as a recent LaunchBox Premium member, I have to say well done on LaunchBox. Looking forward to playing around more with BigBox mode. The past couple days I've been setting up my wireless 360 controllers for my various emulators, which for the most part has gone quite smooth. There is an issue though with Mame. When I play games with two players the second controller will not work. Well the controller kind of works. I can add coins, and the two player start button seems to function fine. However, when it comes time for player two to play you cannot move/shoot. Player 1 controller works fine. Here is the strange part. It only seems to happen on games where two players take turns. I've tested it on Galaga, Dig-Dug and Burger Time. Games where two players are playing simultaneously both controllers work perfectly. Games that work fine for example are Metal Slug X and Street Fighter 3. Hopefully it's an easy fix that I've simply overlooked. I've sent last night and some of today trying to figure this out. If anyone has experienced this or has a solution it would be greatly appreciated.
DOS76
I don't know if this is correct but in a way it kind of makes sense those machines would have two coin slots and two start buttons but only one controller since players are taking turns having two controllers would add to the cost. So since MAME is just emulating the machine it may only support one input from controls. I would try setting the controls for player one to both controllers if possible I know you can select multiple buttons to do the same thing in MAME so maybe you can set up multiple buttons on different controllers. Also when it is player two's turn does the player one joystick still control it or do you have no controls at all for player two if you don't then this suggestion probably won't work. Iceman
Thanks for the response. Your right it does kind of make sense. I should have put this in the first post, but yes, player one controller works for both players. Not a HUGE deal, one person will just have to hand off the controller to another person when it's his/her turn. I would have liked to have separate controllers for both players, but again not a huge deal. I could be mistaken because I don't have it set up anymore, but I could have sworn both controllers worked for player one and two when I had Mame on my Raspberry Pi. DOS76
So you can't set the player one settings in MAME to use both controllers. This way they would both work you would just need to make sure that no one was pressing buttons while the other player was playing.
Iceman
That could work. I'll try it out and see how I like it.
DOS76
Tested it myself and yeah if you set both controllers separately then controller 2 doesn't do anything but the coin and start but if you set both controllers to player one then it works it seemed that you had to set the player 2 joystick first and then add joy 1. It seemed to be a good solution to me. I'm using MAMEUI64
Iceman
Ah I see. What about if your playing a game where player 1 and 2 are playing at the same time? Do you just change the settings for that game? Thanks for the help BTW.
DOS76
Yeah you would just configure that game so that joy 1 would be for Player 1 and joy 2 for Player 2.
