Import Scan Added New Roms Dont Work for Folders

Hi-

When I import ADDED NEW games only for Playstation, Sega CD or any system that has the games setup as \GameNameFolder\ and inside contains a .cue and .bin or .wav files LB thinks that allof those .bin and/or .wav files are new and makes it impossible to import.

I have to manually write down in notepad the list I'm adding, then import new roms and when I get to the final list manually delete everything but that list.

Can this be fixed or change or am I missing something?

Thanks!

When you run a second import for a system you've already imported, even the importer says it found x amount of games, it wont re-import them based on the file name. LaunchBox should notice duplicates on it's own and not import them. So for example, if I added a new PS1 game to my PS1 folder (with that same set up), ran the importer, chose the files and searched out the file extension I needed, added them all to the list, and went through to the end, it will only import the 1 new game.

Thanks!

Scan for added ROM = just single file games (.zip, .iso, etc) and if I want to fine new games that are folder setups just redo Import and it does skip existing folders :) Works for me,

Thanks again for the quick response :P

I have to revive this thread: I have to say the issue is still there and it's a real problem when scanning added roms for FS-UAE. Please notice, the OP import from scratch procedure is not feasible, because I will lose all my favourites flags, which are great for Auto-populated playlists, but the weakness is that they are stored in Platform games list.

I'll try to explain what I noticed in detail and the workarounds (unsuccessful) I tried to reach my goal: make the added roms scan working as expected with FS-Uae emulator.

The main problem is that, when scanning for added FOLDERS (which for FS-Uae represent the game name) Launchbox uses always the FILE name (which for FS-Uae represent the game UUID used to launch the game itself), because LB does not prompt the same options which normally appear when importing games ("use folder name instead of filename" in particular)

Another problem is (maybe related to the previous) that when the new games are found, it seems they won't be added if they already exist with DIFFERENT VARIANTS (e.g. WHdload  variant instead of ADF variant)

To solve the previous problem I tried another approach which unfortunately showed to me another different problem: I actually used winmerge to check the UUIDs added and manually dragged them on Launchbox, importing them normally (without deleting the existing library). In this way all seemed to work and the names were correct (because I had the opportunity to select the option to make LB use the folder name, as I was importing roms, not scanning for added roms).

BUT - here arise a third problem: when the new variants for existing games are combined to their "parents" (either by manually "Consolidate" roms from Tools menu AFTER import process, or also by checking the option "Combine roms with matching title into a single game" BEFORE import process), those variants are combined to the correct parent but, again, the variant name is reverted the game UUID (the "file name" we wanted to avoid from the beginning).

It seems that the possibility to mantain the use the folder name as name/variant when a FS-UAE library is already present is broken in the moment we are dealing with the roms addition scan or the variants unification, thus forcing to DELETE the library  to import all from scratch (which I do not want, since I'll lose favorites, played time and other custom flags).

Therefore I think this matter deserves more attention by devs.

Thank you.
