zorkiii
I have a question, I'm using PS4 controllers with Input Mapper for by BigBox setup, and running into issues when playing Steam games. The buttons are mapping to XBOX 360 style for the controller, which I am guessing is due to Input Mapper emulating a 360 controller in its settings. This is a little annoying since games like Castle Crashers have the buttons all a bit off. I'm not sure what the best course of action might be for this and wondered if anyone else has run into this issue.
SentaiBrad
There isn't. Some games will allow you to change the buttons in their settings, or some games will even have mods to swap those out (Resident Evil 4 and Dark Souls come to mind). The reason why the PC thinks it's a 360 controller, is because it's telling the PS4 controller to not be DirectInput and be Xinput, so everything can use it. DInput is older and less compatible now days. When Xinput came around big time for controllers on PC, was when the 360 controller was popular, and that's just stuck around. Everyone uses those prompts because they just assume it's a 360 pad. Any time a game gives you those buttons, it's 100% controlled by the game. If the game supports DirectInput, you can turn off InputMapper and let Steam utilize the controller as a PS4 controller, and see if the game will give you the right buttons then. In many cases that I used to see though, a game either had keyboard button prompts, Xbox 360 button prompts, or generic button prompts like it was a generic controller with 1, 2, 3, etc on the buttons. I've only seen a few cases where the games even bothered to use the Sony style buttons, and even then most were from mods.
