I am trying to set my arcade cabinet up so I only use the joystick and arcade buttons

I have everything else working great I can highlight any game

but I can't figure out how to start the highlighted game using only arcade buttons

I don't want to use a keyboard I'm trying to make it like a true arcade cabinet

I'm just saying use a keyboard to help map the buttons, then you can get rid of the keyboard after. Though I would still suggest having a wireless keyboard hooked up and nearby just in case you need it at some point, it is a PC afterall and things can and will go wrong.

Open BigBox and go to the "Controller Buttons" section of the options. Then highlight the "Select" and "Play" buttons, press the Enter key on your keyboard followed by the button on your controller you want mapped to those 2 functions. Play will just straight up load the game and Select will take you to the next screen for that game where you can do some extra management like pick another emulator or mark a game as a favorite.
