Having an issue with game configuration.

Hi, new here. So I just started using Launchbox yesterday. I bought the one year license to get access to BigBox and all the extra stuff. Installed the software, set up a few MAME roms and Gameqube roms just to get the hang of everything and test it out.

At this point everything is working great. All the MAME and Gameqube games show up and I can launch them with no problem. The issue I'm having started when I tried to figure out how to set up the game videos. I have an EmuMovies account, put in my log in info and everything checks out with that. Than I watch a tutorial on how to download the media for each game. This is where the problem is. In the video the guy goes to a games settings and downloads the stuff from there.

My issue is if I right click on a game the "configuration" option is grayed out and I can't select it. I'm assuming this is what I need to access to get the videos (tutorial wasn't really clear about this). It's unselectable with every game I've tried, MAME and Gameqube.

Any idea why this option is grayed out for me? I searched around but couldn't find anyone else having a similar issue. Thanks for any help.

Hi and welcome to the community. :)

To download images and videos you need to go to tools/update metadata and images. The easiest way is to select your platform on the left, then left click on any game, then press ctrl a to highlight all the games in that platform. Then you can just got to the tools/metadata image and update what you want as there will be a list and you just check/uncheck what you do or don't want.

I did the initial image download when I first imported the roms. Things like box art/fan art, etc. those all downloaded fine but there was no option for video downloads in that list. If there is than I definitely didn't see it. There is a second window that opens after that for EmuMovies stuff but it just lists the same things as the previous set of chooses (box art/fan art, etc.). No check boxes for videos (unless I missed it).

Also if that was when video files were supposed to be downloaded it doesn't appear that they were. Unless they just don't display by default and it's just a matter of me enabling them somehow.

In the tutorial I watched, the person went into a settings box for the specific game he was getting assets for and downloaded the video files from there. The issue is that he skips over the part where he actually gets to that "settings box".

This is what I'm referring to...

Go to the 6:00 minute mark to see what I mean.

I assumed that to get to this I had to right click on a game and select configure but that option is grayed out for me with every game. I could just be wrong about how to get to these settings, like I said the video skips that part.

Any ideas? Thanks again.

Do you have a premium account over at emumovies? The image downloads you can get with the free account but for the videos you have to pay, I'm guessing that is why you are not getting that option. Also what he is doing at the 6 minute mark is the way to manually add images and videos if for some reason they were not matched up during the import. You can do that in bulk with the way I described in my original reply.

Ah okay. I thought in the video he was saying you don't need a paid account to get the videos. That could be the problem as I don't have a paid account.

If you need a paid account to get any videos at all from EmuMovies than yeah I'll have to do that.

thanks again.

Yeah all the images are free but the videos are not, at least directly through Launchbox. You can however download the videos for free directly from the Emumovies website, but doing so you will be limited to a daily 1.5GB download amount and a limited download speed, but that is a good way to go if you don't want to pay.

Okay cool. Do you know what the process is for making the movies yourself if you want? Is it as simple as using something like OBS to screen cap a gameplay video, name the file the same as the rom and place it in the proper folder?

Would that work if I wanted to just do it myself?
