Retro Achievements custom Project 64 Emulator problems

I use The Custom Project 64 Emulator from Retro Achievements so I can get the achievements, but in order for the achievements to work I have to have the achievement set list up in order for the achievements to work.

How can I get achievements without the the need to open the achievement set list.

It might be worth trying Retroarch instead. Other than that, I haven't tested that stuff myself (yet) so I'm not sure.

I like using project 64 because I can make the games go 1920 by 1080 with no problem, but I don't know how to get that working with Retroarch. If you could tell me how to make the N64 games look just as good as they do on Project 64, that would be helpful.
