3D images not displaying correctly in 8.6/8.7

I am running 8.7 and have 3D boxes set under image group, with the 3D Box priorities in options set to default, i.e. I haven't changed options.

I have just imported a bunch of Atari 2600 roms into a clean but upgrade from 8.6 launchbox and I notice that most of the games don't have an image displayed and are set to the default coloured-cube image. If I change the image group from 3D boxes to screenshots and then back again, it shows a few more 3D box images. I can repeat the process to display even more.

I noticed this same behaviour under 8.6 as well and with other rom sets, e.g. arcade.

Is this a known issue and does anyone have a way to ensure that all of the potential 3D images are displayed immediately, as soon as they are imported.

Update: I am running premium and using the refresh all images option doesn't fix it.

Hi and welcome to the community. :)

I exclusively use 3D boxes on my system and haven't seen the issue you are describing. It could just be that the images are still caching, if you click on a platform and look at the very top of the window do you see a very thin bar filling? If so thats the images for that platform caching, just let it finish, then they should be stored permanently and you shouldnt see no images.

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

I don't see the bar you mentioned but your caching theory sounds good, so I'll be patient and see if it just needs some time.

What are your PC specs?

Also the caching bar is very very small and right at the top of the screen, its easy to miss. Or if your overscan isnt quite perfect on your monitor/TV you may not see it as its that small. :)

I've recently rebuilt it so should be OK; Windows 10, Intel i5-7600@3.8GHz, 32GB Ram, GTX1080, OS is on a Samsung SSD and data is on a mirrored pair of 5TB Seagates. My monitor is an Acer Predetar.

I've reset launchbox back to it's default, theme, colour, etc and still can't see the line, suspect my eyes are the weak link ? I have noticed the 3D boxes are ever so slowly starting to populate, so hopefully time will resolve it.

Found the line! I see what you mean by hard to spot! :P It appeared briefly when I changed to one of the other platforms, filled in then disappeared. When I changed back to the Atari platform, the line didn't reappear.

Yeah those specs are a lot better than mine (i5 3570k, 16GB DDR3, GTX1060 6GB, Launchbox on a 5400rpm HDD, but with its cache on my samsung OS SSD, connected to a 4K HDR LG TV). So my guess would be caching at this point. Also what you can do is go to Tools/Options/Sidebar and check the box to show all in the sidebar, then select the All platform and see if you notice the caching bar, as that will cache images for all your systems in one go.

OK think I have solved it; I changed to boxes, let the line completely finish before changing back to 3D boxes, which had all of the images correctly set :)

Yeah, if you change the image type, or resize the sidebars or box sizes it will need to re-cache the images to the new size/image type.

So you all squared away with this issue?
