Sound Mutes when launching games from LaunchBox

I've been searching for a fix for this for 3 days. I've seen several fixes involving Retroarch, however I'm not using retroarch, I'm just using LaunchBox and mame.

I can see that the volume slider gets turn all the way down when launchbox launches any mame rom. I've tried changing the slider, however the MAME window is persistant in full screen so all attempts to switch to the volume slider fail. I've also tried the volume control keys in mame (-  and =) these have no effect either.

This problem does not occur when launching games directly from MAMEui 

I'm running on windows 10 on a Dell All In One with built in sound card.

If you are using MameUI try making sure your mame.ini file is located in the root folder where the mame.exe is. If it is located in the ini folder copy it into the main folder. See if that helps.
