IvanRic
Hi everyone. I followed the video tutorial on how to add SNES games. Launchbox imported all the games and meta files, but when it finished, nothing showed up on the left bar under Platforms. I cannot find where to access the SNES games. I am brand new to Launch Box, any support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
neil9000
Is the dropdown on the top left of launchbox on Platforms? Also have a look in your Launchbox/Data/Platforms folder and check that the snes.xml is in there.
IvanRic
First of all, thank you for responding! I now see the mistake. The tutorial I watched shows the Platforms folder being in the Games folder. When I didn't see it my Games folder, I just created one. However, after reading your response, I now see that the Platforms folder is in the Data folder. I checked, and sure enough, that is where its located. Thank you, I am re-importing and hopefully it will work. Thanks again.
IvanRic
Still not showing up after importing the files from the correct Platform folder. I do NOT see the snes.xml file in there, just Windows.xml. Is the snes.xml file suppose to be automatically created? How do I get it? Thanks again for your help. neil9000
Just now, IvanRic said: Still not showing up after importing the files from the correct Platform folder. If there is no xml for snes in the data folder then the games are not importing. Your games can be anywhere you like on your system as long as you point launchbox to them. If no xml is being created then nothing is being imported, hence why the platform isnt showing in Launchbox. Can i see a image of your roms folder? neil9000
OK, first things first i didnt say to put your rom folder in the data folder, what i said was to look in there to see if the snes.xml was there. Your roms can be anywhere you like but i wouldnt keep them in the data folder. I just wanted to know if Launchbox created the snes.xml when you imported thee roms. Can i see a image of your Data/Platforms folder please. Basically the import is very simple, you go to tools/import/rom files, point it at your rom folder, pick a emulator and the wizard will do the rest and after you will have a platform in the left sidebar in Launchbox, so if the platform isnt appearing it sounds like none of your roms are importing, so im guessing there is no xml in the data/platforms folder. If there is a xml for the platform there then something else is going on and we need to investigate further. This is what i would like a image of please. IvanRic
Sorry about that, I did follow the wizard and it was really easy. Here is a screen shot of the Data/Platforms folder. I know I must being doing something really stupid lol. Its weird though, after I import the files, I can see them importing at the bottom of LB and it takes a long time, so I know its doing something. Thanks for your help and your patience with me

Thanks for your help and your patience with me Ok, well there is no snes.xml there, so unless you are naming your snes platform Windows then the games are not importing. Are you picking the platform name from the dropdown when importing? If so it will be called Super Nintendo Entertainment System, correct? It then asks for a rom folder and which emulator to use, which are you using by the way? Then after that you will get the option to download images and such and then finally a screen which should list all the games that are going to be imported. Do you get all these screens? IvanRic
Yes, I am getting all those screens. I followed the video tutorial very closely and I went through all the screens he went through. On a whim, I just tried Tools>Scan for added roms. It scanned them and imported them again, and now they are showing up in LB. The xml file is there is well. Not sure why I would have to do that?? At any rate, the games are there now. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks again for your help. Hmm, when you did your first import did you tell Launchbox to move your roms? Because the scan for added roms option will only look in your Launchbox folder for roms unless you physically changed the location. So the scan for added roms looked in your Launchbox/Games/Name of platform folder. So it must of found your games there.
IvanRic
Ah I see. Yes, that must have been what happened. I'll be adding my NES games next, so I'll make sure go through the correct prompts this time. Thanks again neil9000.
