SBI files on PSX games

Hi guys, do you know if SBI files are required when using RA Mednafen core and CHD/PBP games? If so I guess that´d work putting these in the same folder... ?

It is should just be dropped in the same folder as the game and should be named the same as the game file just with the .sbi file type.
