Shizzlemydiddle Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Hi I'm currently running 9.2 of Launchbox and trying to update to the latest beta. When I try I get this the attached message. I'm running Launchbox from an external HDD that’s connected via USB. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Quote
neil9000 Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 It looks like your HDD doesnt have a drive letter, or you dont have permissions to write to it from that PC. Quote
Shizzlemydiddle Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 The HDD is assigned to F and always has been. I have full admin writes on the PC I'm using. Quote

Shizzlemydiddle Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 I haven’t as my fear is that if I manually install it will do a clean install and not just update the components that need updating Quote
Shizzlemydiddle Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 If I manually install will all my config not be touched Quote
neil9000 Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Just now, Shizzlemydiddle said: If I manually install will all my config not be touched It is no different to how it updates when a update is downloaded, just that you are initiating it yourself. It won't overwite any of your configs it will simply update the program, exactly the same as a normal update. Just make sure to install to the correct folder as the installer adds a \Launchbox to the location and you don't want a Launchbox folder inside your Launchbox folder. So if you just have Launchbox on the root of your F: drive just choose F: in the installer. Quote
Shizzlemydiddle Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 Ok so I’ve been able to update manually to 9.3 but when I try to update to the beta I get the same error message. Means I can manually install official releases but not to betas through the updater. So that’s helped me so far but the original issue still exists Quote
Shizzlemydiddle Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 I take that back I’m on 9.2 which is the official release but still can’t update to the beta Quote

Shizzlemydiddle Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 Ok tried updating manually to 9.3 and get exactly the same error Quote
Shizzlemydiddle Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 If I was to do a completely fresh install, what files and folder from my previous build would I need to copy across so my config stays intact Quote
Shizzlemydiddle Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 Think I’ve cracked it. I created a completely new download of 9.3. Then moved all my roms, emulators, media, configs etc. Now boots into 9.3. What I don’t know until there’s another release is if it will install normally. Think it should be ok though. thanks for you help Quote
