how can I just add a small selection of mame roms?

whats the process of just adding 100+ mame roms without launchbox trying to download the whole mame rom set of graphic files?  I had it all set up, but when I try to play certain games from launchbox it doesn't work.  All games work fine if I play them through the mame application.

The full set importer is just for that, full sets.

For a small hand picked set import like any other system, drag and drop your rom set into LB and follow the import wizard. I also use a hand picked set and that is how I imported mine.
