strange problem

hello all

I'm new to emulators and launchbox and over the weekend I messed about and got things running on an older laptop with the help of a youtube video , then i tried to do the same on my gaming pc and I cant get it to work. everything goes ok loads launchbox then project 64 etc etc as I did on the laptop but when I try to play a game it tells me " cannot open rom as a plugin has not been successfully initialized ".

I've tired different games deleting everything ( I thiink ) and starting over again but no luck. please help. 

Is there maybe something I'm not deleting properly and as such leaving a problem that just happens again when I do a new reload. clutching at straws here.

This sounds like an incompatibility with a PJ64 plugin and your PC.

I would like to suggest you try out M64p as an N64 emulator, it is much more user friendly out of the box.

I tried mupen on the laptop and was not impressed by it which is why I went to pj64 with a very noticeable improvement on the 2 n64 ROMs I used but I will try again on the pc. Thanks for the help

PJ64 will run better on lower end hardware but M64p is the better emulator and easier to get working.

As for your plugin not initialized error message you will have see what you can find on their forums or on the internet for a solution.
