MAME roms set not entirely work

I followed the instructions from ETA Prime to install LaunchBox/BigBox. I downloaded MAME 0.220 and the rom set 0.220 split from archive.org.

I have my Tankstick setup and I am able to play some games. An example, Golden Tee 2k works fine but Golden Tee 2006 FORE! does not work.

I have found several games that do not work. A bunch of the Street Fighter games do not work but a few do.

I have read many forums and I can't figure out where to begin. Is this a rom issue? What do I need to look at to determine what is going on?

You are likely missing the CHD for those games, i believe the Golden Tee games do and Street Fighter 3 1, 2 and 3 all need CHD's. Newer games often had HDD drives in the Arcade cabinets, and CHD's are images of this data, in order to run those games in MAME you need both the rom file and it's matching CHD file.

Ok... I am new to MAME. So a noob question. Where do I get the CHD's? Can I download an entire set for the 220 roms? Do the CHD's have to match the rom version?

CHD's should generally match the rom version for complete compatability, but you may get away with different versions just fine. A full CHD set is around 500GB, so its up to you if you want a full set or not. You would likely get them from the same place you found your roms.

I found a Golden Tee Fore! CHD and dowloaded it. Placed it in the roms folder and the game worked.

I unzipped the file and placed it in a folder name the same as the game.

Looks like I will need to find CHD's for the games I want to play.

Thanks for the help!

I just downloaded the same rom set from Archive.org... I can't figure out how to get the 7z file into Mame! It will not give me the option to set the archive folder as a directory. I tried moving the archive folder but it would not allow that.

Not sure exactly what you have here, but mame roms are .zip, not .7z officially (although you can repackage, but the official packs are always .zip). Secondly, do yourself a favour and download the current set from the official place, just google "pleasuredome github" and get direct from source.
