Anyone else use Mednafen Standalone for Saturn?

I was going to sign up for an account on the mednafen forums but seems pretty dead there

Im using Mednafen standalone to emulate Saturn and PS1 and it works awesome! got shaders configured, controllers are working great, etc!

the last issue i have is thanks to a wide array of resolutions used in games on those platforms, and various issues with overscan, some games fill the vertical space perfectly, others have black bars. i learned you can set "first rendered line" and "last rendered line" to get rid of those spaces, which is perfect (keep in mind my aspect ratio is set to "aspect" as i dont want any weird stretching or widescreen)

of course the issue is that games vary wildly on this front, so was looking to do a per-game config. It appears Mednafen supports this by placing config files named after the rom and system in the "pgconfig" directory, but i had a question about the contents

do i literally copy the entire "base" mednafen.cfg, make the changes and rename to the game.. or do i only have to have a config file that has the specific lines i want altered for the specific game? in other words, assuming my Saturn core settings are all correct and ONLY want to adjust the slstartp and slendp commands for each game, are only those 2 entries needed, and then it reads config from the "core" saturn cfg file, or does it need to be a direct replica of the full config?

sorry if it seems like a dumb question, just not sure how to proceed!

thanks!

Not 100% sure but I think you can just put the changes you want into a game specific cfg and it will read the base config first and then the game one, so any changes you make for a specific game will over ride the base ones.

I only use it for PS1 and only use light gun games and I set just the light gun type in the game specific cfg and it is recognised.

I just had a play with the first and last rendered lines for the PS1 and by putting the specific lines in a game config with different settings (eg orig were 0 and 289 so I changed to 50 and 200)  I ended up getting a cut off image rather than a full one so I assume that it what it should have done??

Hopefully that is some help to you, sure you are aware of this but the cfg name must be exactly the same as the file name that Mednafen is loading with the correct system at end (for PS1 it is PSX and for Sega Saturn it is SS)

eg Moorhen 3 - Chicken Chase (Europe) (En,Fr,De).psx.cfg

and not Moorhen 3.cfg or anything else

Cheers
