Mame issue

New to launchbox

I can not get Mame64 to launch. I get the loading spinning wheel mouse cursor for 10 sec then nothing. I am just trying to load it out of my Mame folder with the mame64.exe. not even launch box yet. I created a mame.ini file with mame64 -cc

 

I see Mame running in Task manager then it disappears from task manager when the loading spinning mouse cursor ends.

Mame64 .0228b

 

I ran HBmame228 that will open but will not launch a game. it just crashes

Typically problems with Mame stem from either the user not telling Mame where their roms are located (if the roms are not placed in the \mame\roms folder) or the user has an incorrect rom set for the version of Mame being used or the rom set is missing files that certain games require.

HBMame is a completely different thing, it is for hacks and homebrews, it has its own rom set.

this is the error i get when trying to launch mame64 in command line. unable to create the direct3d device?

PC has a GTX 1660 Super graphics card

PC has Direct x 12 installed

In the MAME.ini file (if you don't have one, run "mame -cc" to create one), in the "OSD VIDEO OPTIONS" section, change the video line to:

video opengl

Then save the MAME.ini file.

 

this fixed it
