Is it possible in the mame import to only create platform playlists, and not genre?

Meaning to only create playlists like "sega m2" and "capcom play system" and not stuff like "namco classics and ect"

The wizard has a few options to check/uncheck in relation to those playlists. Unfortunately those "classics" arcade board playlists are in the same check spot as the other arcade board system playlists. So you cannot exclude them outright without affecting things like CPS, Cave, Sega M2, and so on.

Oh and while im fine with you putting those platform playlists in with the platforms themselves, genre playlsits being added to my platforms is very annoying.

Well the dev put those all under the Arcade category since they are all arcade playlists. If you do not want them there you can edit each of them and change the parent location to move it to a different category. If you want to propose a feature to allow more fine tuned importing of these playlists use the "Request a Feature" link located at the top of the forum under the "Help & Support" tab. If you do, be sure to come back to the forum and link that ticket to help drive votes for it.

Thats a shame, would just love a platforms option. And the fine tuned arcade playlists would be nice, Ill consider making a request.
