srmercenary
Hello! My apologies if this was searchable elsewhere, I could not locate the solution. *************** all emulators launch a duplicate instance ********************* On 9/25/21 having time to use the machine more finding that any emulator is launching a duplicate instance Upon booting my computer, when I use Launchbox then attempt to play a PS2 game - it creates two instances of the PCSX2 emulator. If I close them out and return to Launchbox, it only launches one instance from therein. At first I thought it could be a sticky key. I have launched with two separate wireless keyboards and a USB arcade/keyboard controller (the Xtension version sold from RecRoomMasters) as well as two separate mice using double clicking. I am confident the sticky key or double press is not the case. I have had this glitch for 6 months. Work is busy! This error has occurred since I believe 11.12 through 11.17. I do not recall when the error began so I am not linking causation to the launchbox build. I had removed PCSX2 from the emulator listing then reinstalled it. No change in behavior. I had a much older build (version 1.0 I believe, whatever was listed stabled) when the error began. I tried to resolve the double launch in getting a current version and now use PCSX2 ver 1.7.0-dev. Gameplay is phenomenal but the double instance remains. If I run Big Box instead of Launchbox I do not get a second instance. If I run Launchbox after running Big Box, it will not generate the second instance of the emulator. If I left the computer running and didn't restart or shutdown I wouldn't have the error. That said I am in Virginia Beach and the thunderstorms and approaching hurricanes have me unplug the power frequently. Here's the "why" behind my hope to correct it. I have this in an arcade cabinet in which my 6 YO daughter and I bond and are playing the Disney Enchanted Princess game on PS2. She loves being able to go through the art of the games in launchbox then start the game. Big Box preview videos (that I love) have content I don't want her seeing as she is 6 so Launchbox is my primary way to get her to control the arcade for now. I have attached some photos of my emulator path, computer info, and Windows version. Am open to any help possible! LOVE this software and the community! Th administrators who help us out so frequently are a blessing. I am grateful! C-Beats
Are you running any plugins? Also could you show us what your AHK scripts are for the emulator?

Unless you did that as a way to launch alternate cores, you don't need all of those entries. If those are entries for alternative cores then ignore me. However, if you just thought that's how you set it up, then you should fix it. You just need 1 entry of retroarch. So if you just did that just to launch retroarch then delete all of those. Add a new one and use the prefilled dropdown and pick retroarch. Then go into platforms tab then you just choose the core for each platform. So you only need 1 retroarch emulator listed. The way you did it 'works' but it only makes sense to do that if you want an easy way to launch a game using an alternative core. Moving on... I have the pscx2 standalone setup as well. I could not reproduce your issue with launchbox. I double click on a ps2 game and only 1 instance launches. even if I intentionally double click again a few seconds later. I update nightly to the newest dev release. I do have reWASD on my machine, although I have no remaps active for LB, BB, or pscx2. It would seem to be that it's something on your box. Do you use something like JoyToKey or some other input remapper. Are you launching launchbox directly or are you starting it through another launcher like Steam? Steam does have it's own input remapping functionality that can cause phantom repeated inputs with controllers, not sure if it would affect the mouse. Since it seems specific to pscx2, I start there. I would check it in your emulator list to make sure it doesn't appear twice. I would also go into edit platform > ps2, and set pscx2 as the default, say yes to the prompts. Open the Data/Emulators.xml file and Find pcsx2 and check to see if there's a duplicate section in there? Not sure how launchbox would start just pcsx2 twice and nothing else, but I can't repro it. I would put my money on it being some type of input software you installed, like software or drivers for any custom cabinet controls you have. I definitely appreciate you offering some advice. I did setup retroarch with each alternate core. In the beginning of this project it helped simplify the control inputs for me. Launchbox is now duplicating the launched emulator on all emulators. I've attached emulators.xml for review but I am not seeing clear duplicate issue. The only controller software I have is for RPCS3 which is installed in the RPCS3 directory. x360ce is the one. It would seem to be that it's something on your box. Do you use something like JoyToKey or some other input remapper. - I do not, I have the RecRoomMasters emulator edition arcade that has the USB keyboard style controller. No software used for it. Are you launching launchbox directly or are you starting it through another launcher like Steam? Steam does have it's own input remapping functionality that can cause phantom repeated inputs with controllers, not sure if it would affect the mouse. - I am launching LB.exe directly via desktop shortcut or taskbar shortcut.
